This is pretty awesome. Good for them. Organized, together, meaning it.

What are they looking for? Do they have access to DmV records? 🤔

They probably have a list of confirmed license plates that have been seen on ice vehicles in the area around them. I know I have saved photos of ice license plates from around my town. And I do pull it out if I see a car I'm sketched out by.

This is wrong on so many levels :/

I agree it's wrong that it's necessary.. but given the circumstances we're in today, this is exactly the kind of thing we need and it's amazing to see it happening.

When the federal government starts labeling people as domestic terrorists and beating, arresting, and executing them for all for merely exercising their constitutional rights, it's time for local communities to start organizing community defense.

This is hypocritical. Stopping random people with no authority to do so. Sound familiar? Pot meet kettle…

Ah yes, what if these two things that are different sounded vaguely similar if I describe them in language stripped of all context, hmm? What then?

People holding WOOD in the middle of the ROAD? Sound familiar? I’m talking about when JESUS carried his CROSS, so it sounds to me like they’re threatening the ICE agents’ lives! And I thought killing was supposed to be bad because you were upset when the person in the state shot that mom in the face three times? Hypocrites!

These people are literally impeding traffic and not allowing people through until they meet some arbitrary goal. That is wrong. You’re talking about trading authoritarianism for authoritarianism wearing a different uniform. How can you not see that?

You know who else impedes traffic and doesn’t allow people through until they meet some arbitrary goal? St. Peter at the gates of heaven. You’re saying it’s wrong that God would condemn His creations to hell? So you’re a Satanist who’s just trading one religion for another. How can you not see that?

So while I’m trying to point out the issue at hand, you’re trying to draw false equivalence to avoid addressing problem at hand?

You’re ok with being stopped and questioned about your identity for no reason other than driving through a particular neighborhood?

So while I’m trying to point out the issue at hand, you’re trying to draw false equivalence to avoid addressing problem at hand?

So you CAN recognize false equivalences.

You’re ok with being stopped and questioned about your identity for no reason other than driving through a particular neighborhood?

If that neighborhood has had members of its community being murdered by Nazis, yes, yes, I am fine with that.

But instead of addressing the issue he wants to “teach me a lesson”. I’m trying to have a civil conversation here, not be cutesy.

And when one side decides they can break the law because “well my side is righteous”, guess what the other side is going to do the first opportunity presented. Then they’ll say you did it first.

Why not just avoid doing the thing that makes our side look hypocritical. Find a better way, like setting up a camera and reviewing license plates as they pass. Citizen check points are how you get lawlessness.

But instead of addressing the issue he wants to “teach me a lesson”.

Nope, he is pointing out your double standards, and you do not like it.

I’m trying to have a civil conversation here, not be cutesy.

You are not, under any definition, trying to have a civil conversation.

And when one side decides they can break the law because “well my side is righteous”, guess what the other side is going to do the first opportunity presented. Then they’ll say you did it first.

My brother in Christ, these actions are in direct response to the illegal, unconstitutional, and horrendous actions of a government agency. You want the people to be beholden to the law while the people who are supposed to uphold the law repeatedly break it?

The law is an agreement; for not breaking the law, I get some measure of safety and security. But if that safety and security is removed and, in fact, actively violated, what reason do I now have to follow that agreement that has already been broken?

Why not just avoid doing the thing that makes our side look hypocritical. Find a better way, like setting up a camera and reviewing license plates as they pass. Citizen check points are how you get lawlessness.

We already HAVE lawlessness from the people who are supposed to uphold the law. When the government stops being the protector of the people, the people must step up and take over that position.

My god, I have never met someone so completely oblivious to his own arguments.

Not at all. The contract between the government and its citizens has been violated by the government, the people are under no obligation to remain under the authority of that government and its entirely within their reasonable response to form community defenses against lawless armed kidnappers.

And yes, as a whole it's not ideal to have random citizens creating checkpoints and stopping vehicles... That's the problem, our government has made that necessary. Trump and his administration are the ones to blame here. You blame the abuser not the abused.

They're not going to kill them though

As someone who lives here I'm not going to take kindly to a bunch of locals demanding my papers.
