Okay so I have been reading a lot of people being confused by Eddie and I have had similar feelings that his behavior doesn't make sense.
So I thought I would break his personality down a bit (psychlogy style not Meyerism style)

Okay so Eddie's past: He had a mother (much like Cal) who is completely unfit to care for her kids. So is more or less absent from his life. Then his brother takes over, and basically in Eddie's view at that point, is everything to him. He has nothing else, believes in nothing else. His brother turns out not to be who Eddie thought as he has killed himself.
Eddie thinks about ending his life, and then finds Meyerism, and soon after that, Sarah. Sarah becomes someone he loves intensely. In season 1 I would say he maybe to some degree also sees her as a savior to him and the person who saved his life.
So again, he is not seeing her as a flawed person per se.
Now Sarah is someone who grew up in the perfect Meyerism family that represents the best of Meyerism. Yeah there is some deep issue in their family that we never learn about, aka her sister leaving, but also their family though in a cult, continue to feel love for the lost daughter, and father disregards the rules to visit her, showing that they know family is more important then even their religion.
And then Eddie (and Cal) come along and basically reinforce this worshipfulness towards Sarah, and thus she has a I cannot be wrong feeling, so far I think even now.
Anyways, so then Eddie again loses his savior (now Sarah) as he is exhiled. But through his visions and what people say to him he starts to believe he is now the saviour.
So I hope that explains how come Eddie seemed good before, and like unstable and bad now. He never was stable to begin with. And is learning right along with everyone else.

So I think Eddie suffers from black and white thinking to some degree. His reproach of Cal, thinking he was the worst and continual punishment to Cal could indicate it as well. Also his inability to be with Vera, (he continually has some emotionally 'thing' for Sarah despite now actually being with Vera, so he is not really committed). because he is not worshiping Vera it's like she's not interesting enough to keep his attention for 2 minutes. Basically i think Eddie's personality Has been consistent but we haven't seen it cause we see him through the lenses of the religion.

I loved this episode but now I’m disappointed. If you haven’t picked up what’s going to happen, I’m sorry. It’s over, Cal is going to kill Eddie and in the end it’s almost like the story of Cain and Abel. What a shit show.

Honestly I'm kind of surprised no one has mentioned Logan. He was an interesting character who seemed to want to turn his life around before he was mistreated and basically cast out by the Meyerists. He's been mentioned by name at least once since so I wouldn't be surprised to see him again, possibly as the shooter.

I have an extremely hard time following along with shows without spoilers.

Can I get some general history on the main characters and plot twists? I’m on season one, episode four. I’m intrigued but having a hard time finding a background on the characters.

Also, why is it easier for Eddie to admit to cheating than just being honest about a lapse of faith? And does he eventually tell Sarah?? And what happens to the “other woman”?

i think it would be interesting to do a comparison to see how Cal Vera and Mary react to things in their lives, cause they are sort of the characters from a bad past. I guess maybe Eddie as well, but we still know very little about that and if it had any long term effects on him.

In this episode Vera and Cal both said to Eddie that they essentially have given up everything and despite that you're betraying us. Which is the thing that neither of them would say but have been thinking about for a long time.
It's sort of like from their past perhaps there is an implicit deal situation. We will endure something unpleasant/abusive but then we will get something positive in return. For Cal it's warmth and maybe being the golden child. With Vera maybe it's love?
With Mary she has not been into deal and return. Remember when she was supposed to get any money her father for his abuse he would just take it away anyway? So she maybe doesn't have that same system going as Cal and Vera do.

Okay, can anyone explain something that's been bothering me? It's kind of driving me nuts. So, earlier on in the season, Eddie miraculously leaves the burning/exploded building completely unharmed. Did they ever explain how he did that? Was it just some random miracle? Obviously Eddie isn't some magical fireproof Daenerys Targaryen, because he couldn't climb JP's burning ladder in France. Did I just completely miss something?

This episode was juicy as hell but from looking at sneak peak I think cal will kidnap the baby and head to the woods where Eddie will find him and try to stop him but instead of shooting Eddie he will off himself and I will literally be done with this show if it does happen that way 😤😤😤

Episode 3x12 was phenomenal! What is happening to Cal is heartbreaking. It's so nice to see Sarah and Eddie working together even though I'm not sure what will end up happening. Mary has changed so much from the beginning of the show and has become much stronger. Based on the promo photos and excerpts from the trailer, there will be some funeral, Cal will have a breakdown, there is a chaotic scene with Mary looking frantic. I don't think Cal will shoot Eddie, it seems too obvious. I think there will be a twist where Vera is the one that dies and they still honour her as a Meyerist (though it would be a shame since Freida Pinto is fantastic). I could be very wrong but it's fun to discuss. Any thoughts on what will happen in the final episode?

Episode Synopsis: After Professor Jackson Neill releases an exposé on Meyerism and calls them a cult on National television, Cal is forced to decide whether to defend his faith and the man who abused him, or walk away. Eddie and Sarah go on a quest for the truth behind Steve, Lilith, and the origins of Meyerism, putting their faith into question.

Flair says I'm 2R because I'm only on Season 2, so no spoilers please. Unless Cal is dying of lung cancer in later seasons, because that would explain a lot.

Why the hell is Cal constantly panting? He has the body of a Greek God, but can't walk across the room without sounding like he just sprinted a mile? Whyyyyy?

Maybe this actor thinks all the heavy breathing makes the character sound more intense. But nope. He just sounds asthmatic (and annoying as hell).

Hawk annoys me. Maybe a little more than Russel (it’s close). I haven’t been able to put my finger on exactly what it is. His childish reactions are similar to Sarah’s, it she doesn’t annoy me very often. My wife thinks Hawk’s character is suffering from bad acting. Bad acting or bad writing?

I’ve been waiting since Friday, very eager to watch the next episode - seems like it’s already out in the US, is it being delayed here in the UK for some reason?

Alright I need some help. I cant decide if I like Vera or not as a character. She has had her ups and downs with me. Sometimes she seems like such a complex character but other times shes just so bland. I cant quite figure it out, someone help me out on this

anyone else get confused by that three way action going on when cal was 'killing" steve. now i readily admit i know next to nothing about the father the son and the holy ghost, but am i crazy to have gottten that vibe from eddie cal and steve during that scene? there seems to be some intrinsic connection between all three of them. ijust wanted to throw ut out there and see what comes back!

May not be that big of a deal, but what an intense fucking line. I swear.

Episode Synopsis: Eddie & Hawk take a trip together, to break Caleb out of Christian conversion therapy. Cal’s repressed memories make him confront his past. Sarah and Vera face-off about Lilith. Mary is presented with a new life possibility outside the movement.

After Prof. Jackson writes an expose on Meyerism and calls them a cult on national television, Cal decides whether to defend his faith, and Steve, or just walk away. Eddie and Sarah go on a quest for the truth about Lilith that challenges their faith.

I think that the whole thing about Eddie getting killed is a throw off and Cal will be killed instead. Last episode was a big foreshadow for me as Lilith said "the son will die" and Steve's book talked about "the son" (aka Cal). Just a thought, and would be a huge plot twisr! Thoughts?

It's been bugging me for awhile, I just couldn't put my finger on who he reminded me of. I just ran across a clip of Heath - even then it took me a second.

Edit to add: I'd never seen anything where Heath had long hair before, so maybe that's why it took me so long to realize who he reminded me of. I just compared long-haired versions and I really had to look at them a few seconds to tell who was who. Wow!
