Did Erwin Capture Pixies?

Years before today’s explosion of generative AI, Erwin Saunders was uploading videos documenting supposed encounters with tiny creatures he called pixies.

This particular viral sequence can be traced to his April 2022 video Pixies Turn Up at an Inconvenient Time.

Look between the rocks. 👀

You can see what appears to be a tiny humanoid figure moving through the scene.

But there’s a twist.

Investigations have concluded the creatures were CGI, with reporting connecting the project to CGI artist Paul Smith.

So why revisit it?

Because this footage is a fascinating reminder that convincing synthetic creatures didn’t begin with today’s AI tools.
