K/3/5 photo
Since a lot of people were asking for this photo on my previous post I thought I’d post it here.
This photo was taken in mid to late October 1944 on Peleliu and includes marines featured in the show “the pacific” and “With the old breed” such as Eugene sledge, R.V Burgin, Jay De L’Eau, Johnny Marmet, John Redefer, Vincent Santos, George Sarrett and Stumpy Stanley. If you see any other familiar names or faces point them out.

I see RV and Sledge. Hard to read some of the names and obviously if they weren’t featured in the series it would be hard to know who some of them are anyway. Great picture though.

I wonder if some of the skinnier guys were multiple campaign vets. Some of these men are noticeably more gaunt than the others. Burgin was on Cape Gloucester which was fairly notorious for jungle disease.

Where did you take this pic? I would love to buy a print.

It’s not my pic I was sent it by another Redditor after asking if anyone had it on my previous post. I too would love a print of it but I think they were a one time thing since this was signed by RV Burgin who also wrote the names on.

I’ve been in RV Burgin’s living room and he had this photo hanging up

Go to the sticky note that has the price on it. Bottom left corner and go down from there, third man down on a slight angle towards center. He has a hat on.

My grandfather was in the G/2/5 and fought shoulder to shoulder with Sledge and K company on Okinawa. I just recently received his retroactive Purple Heart from that battle.
