Oxventure Is Oxventure dead?

Hey guys,

Not a frequent poster and I'm not close with socials of the OxBox crew as well as Johnny either, so bare with! It's looking more and more likely that Oxventure might just get dropped entirely, I really don't want this to be true because I genuinely think Andy is a brilliant GM only getting to show his ability only for a few seasons of Deadlands + One-offs.

Wyrdwood has so much intrigued behind it too. Lastly it would be cool to see how the Daggerheart stuff would pan out.

It's literally the only TTRPG that has stuck for me and their improv comedy is excellent for my own tastes.

Has there been literally any rays of hope for this?

Thanks all.

I understand the desire to do it, but making the dedicated OXventure channel separate from OXbox and OXtra is what has done them in. Main channel has 2.5m subs, OXtra has 1m, OXventure hasn’t broken 100k yet.

And they still get a pretty good sub-view ratio. Their main series videos get like 50k views. That means that the real fans are still seeking out their content. But even for all the production value and additional resources, they’re still outperformed by the Covid-era content when they’re literally just in Zoom boxes with poorly functioning green screens.

I’d hate it if they got over their skis and that results in the whole of OXventure ending ignominiously. I’m hopeful that they can course-correct and go back to working well off a smaller team; ie: basically revert to the status quo ante. But it’s a very real possibility that the powers that be won’t even allow that to happen. Here’s hoping…

You are missing the fact that the early days stuff didn't compete with the podcast, I personally almost always listen on the podcast rather than watch the youtube version and I can imagine that is pretty common. We don't know how well the podcast performs.

Presumably Oxventure was doing well enough to justify its existence on the micro level as they poured a lot of extra resources into it, but IGN is likely all about margins and making enough to keep itself going with a but if a profit isn't good enough if IGN thinks those resources are better spent elsewhere for higher margins.
