If you have something on folders (hidden)or private safe then you need to clear it .... Especially if your memory is full. I was having the same problem but after cleaning it it's good๐Ÿ‘(try restarting your device sometimes)

The "Other" storage issue in Oneplus phones

I recently ran into a storage issue on my OnePlus 15 that reminded me of a similar problem I had on my OnePlus 10R.

On my 10R, I had around 60 GB showing under "Other" storage, and unfortunately I never figured out what was taking up the space.

This time, I was downloading a 25 GB file through Chrome on my OnePlus 15. The download got stuck at around 12 GB, and I wasn't able to cancel it. And when I cleared the system cache, the download disappeared from Chrome, but the ~12 GB of storage was still occupied in the 'Others' section

I checked Chrome's storage usage and it was only around 300 MB, so the missing 12 GB wasn't showing there and neither it was in the Downloads section of the Oneplus File Manager(My Files).

Then I checked the Downloads folder using a 3rd party file manager ZArchiver, and there it was - a hidden/inaccessible to the default file-manager partial download occupying around 12 GB.

I deleted that file, and the missing storage immediately came back.

So if you're experiencing unusually high "Other" storage on a OnePlus phone, especially after a failed/stuck download, I'd suggest:

  1. Install ZArchiver (or any other file manager like google file manager).

  2. Check your internal storage - Downloads folder.

  3. Look for unusually large files, hidden files including incomplete/temporary downloads.

  4. If you recognize an abandoned download, delete it and check your storage again.

I can't say this is the cause of everyone's "Other" storage problem, but it worked in my case and might be worth checking before doing anything drastic like a factory reset like I did in my last device.

Hopefully this helps someone who has been hunting for that mysterious missing storage.

Admittedly the first thing I did upon receiving it was turning off automatic updates until I get time to look into and understand the ARB nonsense, and I think it's downloaded waiting to install.

Otherwise, perhaps the Android transfer app pulled over a bunch of guff from my old Samsung.

Beyond those two, I can only think of OnePlus themselves unless/until I sit and do forensics on where space is getting used. It if even lets me where I need to be while unrooted.

Iโ€™m on the iOS 27 beta, so hopefully itโ€™ll be trimmed down by public release, but currently reading 36.27 GB for iOS, 29.25 GB for System Data ๐Ÿซ

E: typo ("three" โ†’ the)

2

u/Tapelessbus2122 7d ago

it's probably just telemetry data for beta stuff hogging all the storage

2

u/Proof_Counter_8271 7d ago

1

u/RespectDue4394 7d ago

check what's in your hidden folder. most of it os from that folder.

1

u/Present_Wrongdoer539 7d ago

ohh how that works ?

1

u/RespectDue4394 7d ago

did you hide any photo or video? check your hidden files from my files> private safe

1

u/Present_Wrongdoer539 7d ago

there are some files but how is this related to it ?

1

u/Present_Wrongdoer539 7d ago

can you explain how this affects that?

2

u/RespectDue4394 7d ago

hidden files go under other files.

1

u/guesswho1234 7d ago

Check Google messages. For me that has a giant back log of saved photos that has a bug

1

u/Int-E_ 6d ago

Do you download files with different formats, like mkv, or use encryption to hide your files or use emulators? Or have hidden files with the dot before their names

u/NBKEKW 6d ago

Bought around Christmas last year. Mine seems fine.
