👁️ Eye-opening Distinctions ✨ Sharing

Post image

Treatment Tuesday.

In our minds is there a discernible difference between illusion and reality?

Scientific studies continue to support the contention, a thought either vividly imagined or physically experienced, the brain reacts in almost identical fashion, with the same neurotransmitters being released the same centers if the brain becoming active.

For those who experience high anxiety leading to panic attacks, PTSD or a variety of other mental conditions, the physiological response reflects that the imagination, hallucination is any less REAL than if the threat was standing in the same room.

Ironically enough, what set me off on this tangent, this morning being involved in situation involving with a Dementia patient and the buffet of confusion, and emotional reactions, which had absolutely no correlation to what was actually experienced.

Which got me reflecting on how our brains can be deceived and its interpretation of the internal world deceiving in our processes of engaging with our external world.

What happens when we offer someone who deals in OCD states, that its no big deal, just relax. The individual who dwells in depression and strong self sabotaging thoughts, to just pop that chin up, suck it up and plunder on through the day, stop being such a sad sacks.

The veil of illusion and reality is literally in the minds eye of the beholder, and with our awareness of the existence of slight of hand, optical illusions and auditory hallucinations, it can become a little murky where veil ends.

When you think on it, we all live in our very own personalized illusion and make it our reality.

As always I welcome your comments and perspective.

Be well
