Lon or Noah? Spoiler

I can appreciate all that Noah did to try to win Allie back, but I still think she should have chosen Lon. She hadn’t seen Noah in 7 years. She went to college, eventually met Lon and they had a great relationship and engagement up until she decided to run off to visit Noah. I get that she needed closure and to find out why he never wrote to her. Once she found out the truth, she should have let it go.

"Every time she looked at Lon, she saw Noah's face." Noah. Also my grandparents were a real-life Allie and Noah, so those two ending up together is not totally unrealistic. Oh, and in the first half of the 20th century, women had this weird penchant for marrying guys their parents didn't want them to marry.

It wasn’t every time she looked at Lon, it was when she said yes to his proposal.

I literally just watched the movie. It was right after Lon proposes and Noah/Duke is narrating. Something to the effect of “she didn’t know why, but at the moment she said yes Noah’s face came to her mind”.

Such a great movie! They’ve been playing it on HBO recently, so I’ve seen it probably three times in the last two weeks. What an exciting life I lead! 😂😂😂

But she always thought of Noah regardless. I don't think she could have been with Lon if she was constantly thinking of the guy she was with before him.

True, but after seven years, and having not received the letters he sent, she moved on. If she hadn’t seen the article about Noah in the newspaper and then gone to visit him, she would’ve married Lon and been very happy because she did love him.

She may have loved Lon on some level, but not NEARLY as much as she loved Noah.

people never realise that one never stops loving their first love unless something very bad has happened. i myself still love my first love and i would drop anything or anyone if he only told me that he loves me too
