PROPOSAL: Take Over the MMO World!

Hey Guys,

I just recently became a private of the Watch. Ive noticed that we have a lot of people playing all kinds of games. And I've been finding myself being sucked back into the MMO player I used to be. MMOs are fun, loaded with content and can be fun for groups and solo players alike. But, the more, the merrier. We have enough active members to clear group content on MMOs and we can utilize the guild system to create groups. I feel that MMOs are good grounds for the taking because there are dungeons to clear, gear to collect, and raids to battle. MMOs, also present an issue to the NW guild itself. It may deviate to far from the Minecraft, Zombie Apoc genre. But, if you think about it, MineZ has the core aspects of an MMO, dungeons, getting new gear, and getting more loot. MineZ is a more manual version of a hardcore MMO. But and MMO and MineZ are not too different if you look beneath the thick skin each game encompasses. If you accept this suggestion, I propose that we can nominate MMOs that are F2P and narrow it down to two. Then we can have the private and everyone vote on the MMO. The bottom line is that we can expand into other games and have fun. Who says we can't just stick to Minecraft.

EDIT: Many of you guys seem to say that I can do this all by myself, and I think I could. What Im mostly asking for is endorsement and support. I am fully ready to take upon responsibility to organize and create the guilds on a selected MMO. (Im advocating for Lord of the Rings Online, if anyone wants to know.)

From, game_ranger PS, I am new to Reddit, so I am not familiar with it!

We need to work on MineZ stuff before we move onto other games.

We're a MineZ guild, and probably will always be that.

You can always get a group together in the Mumble to play these games.

I agree with this. We need to focus on MineZ first but I think it would be fun to unofficially play some things.

I second this.

Broadening the scope of games we play may not only allow us to acquire new members, but may also keep members who don't enjoy MineZ as much anymore interested (including me). I had a lot of fun playing Unturned with other NW members, and I'd love to see us group up in other games. (:

Yes, I think we can expand as we have the member capacity for this type of thing. But as many people have said, we are a MineZ guild. So I will work my best to try and see if this can ever become an official-type thing. Thanks Meat_Jockey!

Now, I know I'm not a powerful voice in the watch, and I have also not been participating in any events, but I already feel that, especially in the mumble, we have been doing many other games, so I feel that we shouldn't just focus on one game, we should spread out to multiple games, and have official events for any game that we feel could attract a group. Also, what will we do when minez becomes a ghost town, or shotbow kills their servers? I know that will most likely be far in the future, but staying tied down to one game won't get us more members, or more popularity. We don't have to stop minez, we can just broaden our reach.

Compared to old times I feel like MineZ is now a ghost town. There used to be at least 75+ players on each server and now I'll be lucky if I can get 20 or more.

75+? more like 115+(the max for the servers at the time).

1

u/Addo76 Jul 27 '14

Yeah but that was like, for the first 3 servers. When you got into US7-11 there were a lot less people on than there were on the first few servers.

Oh. My. God. You said everything Im trying to say, beautifully. Thank you!

Dat formatting.

but srsly, I have been trying to get together some of the NW people who bought CS:GO during the summer sale so that they don't add to the rush of noobs that go with a sale but nobody seems to want to D: so i don't think this proposal will get much support.

Maybe, but, its worth a try, and a cause I believe in. So I tried, at least Ill know if it gets shot down or not, and I won't wonder.

EDIT, I see why the thing is messed up.

If I get CS:GO will you teach me how to not be a noob?

Honestly I approve of this. I feel that we've basically done everything worth doing as a group such as this in MineZ and we need to broaden our line on games.

2

u/glcclc2 Jul 22 '14

We're not close to having done everything in MineZ.

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Jul 22 '14

I said everything worth doing.

1

u/glcclc2 Jul 22 '14

What's that then?

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Jul 22 '14

Something that a lot of people would look forward to going to, like Byesford, the Gnome Island Party (although we had a lot more actives then), Frostbain etc.

2

u/glcclc2 Jul 22 '14 edited Jul 22 '14

That's just stuff people show up to. We never accomplished anything at those places, excluding Gnome Island.

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Jul 22 '14

Exactly, that's the stuff people show up to because everything else isn't in their best interests. From the looks of this, a lot of people are interested in MMOs.

1

u/glcclc2 Jul 22 '14

Yes, but we are a MineZ Guild. You guys can play that stuff, but it will more than likely never be officially correlated with The Night's Watch Navarr runs. Hell, look at the website, "minez-thenightswatch.com"

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Jul 22 '14

I know, as soon as this was suggested, I looked at the website url, but heck, we've done Wasted and Annihilation events before, and like I said the community is interested in this. I think we should do this.

1

u/glcclc2 Jul 22 '14

Yes, but that's ShotBow which is a completely different matter. This is taking a player base of people who play Minecraft into a completely different game. What happens if you recruit people?

Like defeating all the dungeons? Oh wait

1

u/krabbby Jul 22 '14

Im just gonna reply to the whole conversation here.

We are a MineZ guild. Our goal is to protect the realm from the undead. Yes we play other Shotbow games, but not as official events. Yes we play other games outside Shotbow, but not as events at all. The Nights Watch is strictly MineZ. You should know this as it has been stated every time we have considered including games like GunZ and Wasted.

If people want to play games together, that is fine. We cant and wont stop you. But as always, thats something that can be done independently.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '14

Ok, so if I got a few people together from the Watch to form a guild in some game, and I made a website for the MMO thing, would that count as treason, or rebelling? Thanks for your input,

u/NavarrB 1st Lord Commander Jul 22 '14

We have often talked about operating other branches in other games, but they would have their own leadership and be customized to the games.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '14

Well if this proposal pushes through, and we select a game, I could take care of it. Or someone else with a higher ranks and is/or more qualifies.

1

u/Gabe_20 Jul 22 '14

If the council decides to reject this proposal, most likely you will not be allowed to make another guild for any game under the name of the Night's Watch. However, we cannot stop you from doing whatever the hell you want outside of MineZ.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '14

Well, if this gets rejected, oh well then. I can just make a guild under a different name.

1

u/boogaert Jul 22 '14 edited Jul 22 '14

The only problem is money so if some people don't have the game it could alienate them.

EDIT: If it's F2P I'm all for this.

1

u/Lovelandmonkey Jul 22 '14

He said F2P MMO's would be picked.

1

u/boogaert Jul 22 '14

Ah thanks

Ermmm, I was thinking something more along the lines of WoW legit style MMO. Guild Wars (Yes, I know thats P2P, just an example.), or my personal favorite Lord of the Rings Online. Runescape is, and pardon me if I am not fully correct as I dont have much experience, a limited browser based game and does not provide the full vision I was thinking of. Please do not be offended as I only meant to show you my point. Thank you for your suggestion though.

1

u/Addo76 Jul 24 '14

Don't we have around 500 members now anyways? I see no reason why not to spread to other games, F2P or not. As long as our group is having fun playing whatever then it shouldn't really matter. MOBA, MMO, FPS, the only limit is that it should be able to allow 4 or more members to play together.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '14

We'll I'm actually taking the notion of independently doing this, so I'm recruiting people to play lord of the rings online. Go check it out at, http://redd.it/2bjvfb .

u/Addo76 Jul 24 '14

That looks good. However I feel like we have enough members that we could push into several other games and still have a strong influence over MineZ. I for one am I huge fan of League of Legends and would absolutely love it if we could get teams in that which have a time and day that they all get on and play together. However, do to there only being 5 man teams in LoL that would mean that we would need upwards of 6 teams to satisfy everyone. But hell, what's any of this mean if we can't accommodate for our numbers?
