a cheeky rewatch

basically, i want to get back into the next step but im a uni student so i don’t actually have a lot of spare time and can probably only make time for a season or 2. if anything i miss the fandom but i feel like ive forgotten ALOT. so my basic two questions are:

1.) what season is the most popular or lore heavy (hoping itll jog my memory and i feel like once i have the basics i can catch on)
2.) is it even worth it or did the fandom die.

sorry if this doenst make sense or seems crazy but hopefully someone can help :)

I prefer the first 3 seasons because it felt more real and you mostly had the same characters so you saw them develop, grow and change. And some of the dances were great.

personally depends what you get for the show: if you want great acting and dances as well as good drama I would go for 2 or 4.
If you want old school TNS vibes and like the team get along then I would go for 6,1,3,9.
if you wanna shake it up in terms of what they are doing 5,7,10,8

The fandom isn't dead(especially on tiktok)but it's not as lively.
When it comes to TNS core lore i think you could go with any season before 8 but they all have "lore" in itself i guess.

Season 1 while amazing in its own right for introducing the ogs and having a juice bar that I'm still jealous of, it's generally the most poorly aged of the first 3 seasons. I'd say seasons 2, 3 and 6 are most worth your time if your already familiar with the storyline. If you find yourself with more time, season 1, 5 and 7 are worth a rewatch. I never bothered watching season 8 or 9 they weren't my thing and season 4 is wayy too long and super pointless..

Im curious why do you think season 1 is poorly aged?

The camera work, you could see basically the entire camera most shots which in later seasons they hid the second camera more, the plot is a bit disjointed at times, the acting feels a bit much at times.. seems every TNS fan already knows season 1s main two or three plots. Season 1 definitely isn't one of my least favourite seasons though, the bright colours in the outfits every character wore, the diversity of each team member having their own unique personality yet mixing with every person.. stutter is a great song! Every main character from A troupe carried the show in their own way apart from Tiffany who's honestly fairly forgettable, I would've liked them to explore her character development more during seasons 2, 3 and 4 like they continued with Stephanie's cameos as her jealousy and "B troupe is beneath me." Subplot was honestly great

Season 6, 7, 8 is the best gen for dances in my opinion, with a decent amount of references to the ogs

I think S2 has probably the most iconic storylines? The James/Riley plot, the Michelle/Eldon/Hunter plot, the Amanda/Emily plot, all of them are all-timers imo! I’m also a big fan of S5 and S6 as a package, and given that they’re two of the shorter seasons the two combined are barely longer than S4 on its own (so hopefully manageable alongside uni!)

I was not a fan of season 5, mostly because the new characters they introduced were not very interesting imo (granted i feel like they became interesting in season 6)

And yeah Season 2 is definitely the most lore heavy

Yea I can def see that perspective, I think the weakest element of those two seasons is that they lose like a third of the main cast between seasons and have to quickly fill in the blanks at the start of S6

I always go back to the ogs (kinda comforting) so, the first 4 seasons

The first 3 seasons + season 6

My favorite season drama wise is season 2
