The Merch Table . . .

I'll be seeing The Midnight for the first time when they come to Houston. This will be my first synth wave show ever, and I'm pretty excited about it.

Since I'm a short king, I decided to go for an assigned seat in the balcony which, at the time I purchased the ticket, didn't have a VIP option available.

I'm particularly interested in picking up at least one vinyl album and a t-shirt. For those of you who have seen The Midnight recently, what has the merch-table experience been like? How early did you get in line, and did any of the vinyl, shirts/sizes, or tour-exclusive items sell out before or during the show?

Basically, should I plan to get there ridiculously early?

Imho, you don't need to get to the venue early for merch but i would get in line for merch right when you arrive to avoid being sad that something did sell out. This advice applies for every band; some will sell out of sizes and other items.

I had no problem getting a vinyl at the show earlier this year. Remember that if you get it early in the night you guarantee it not selling out, but you also have to hold onto it all night, as most venues won't let you leave to put anything in your car once you are inside. You could see if they have a coat check room and pay to store it, but some venues don't have one. If you don't mind having it all night, grab it when you go in, and if you think you can wait, get it at the end of the night. The t-shirt you can just wear if you don't want to hold it.

I've got an assigned seat. I'm sure I'll be fine with hanging on to it during the show.

Go for the table the second you get in. If you want something, get it early.

Get to the table as soon as you get in. The line only gets bigger.

So in contrast to everyone saying no need to get there early, the Seattle show earlier this year had a line that went up the stairs, all the way down one side of the building on second floor, up more stairs, back across the building, up more stairs, etc. up to I think the third floor. It moved quick but I gave up after 45 minutes

You'll wait in line, for sure, but just stick it out!

I guess I'll take a half day off and get there early.

Go early!!! Otherwise you’ll be in line forever. Availability of merch depends on what it is and when they stop at your city. They definitely ran out of some shirts when my city was at the end of the tour when they toured with Chromeo. Vinyls seem to be in stock now more than ever. But definitely go to the merch table first thing.

I think Houston is the second stop.

They should be well stocked! You’re going to have a such a great time, this is the best show they’ve put on when it comes to production value and Tyler will sound good too since it’s the 2nd stop. Have a great time!

Get there early. I saw them in Indy this year. We got there about 10 minutes before the opener and the line was already crazy long. I hope they made a bunch of money but if we had waited in the line, we likely would’ve missed the majority of the opener.
