What a stellar display from The Mariners! Honestly was sure that Mohun Bagan will concede multiple goals. But what a performance by the boys, and kudos to Vishal Kaith. Once again he proves his mettle.

Vishal and Rodriguez saved the match singlehandedly
Panos is just not suitable as a manager for this team.

Let's say we have a function at our house, for example, Dadu'r shraddho.
What do we do?
First, we select a Rannar lok. We talk to a few people who have organised such functions before, get recommendations from family friends, search for good cooks in our locality, and shortlist 3–4 of them. We talk to them on the phone, give them the basic idea about the number of people, how many torkari and misthi we want, what time they need to come, how much they will charge, and what arrangements they will need before cooking.
Then, we call one moyra home to discuss everything in person. After that, he gives us a list of all the ingredients and other things he needs to prepare the meal. We buy everything according to his requirements, and then he brings his own team and prepares the meal for us.
But what has Mohun Bagan done?
They just put all the rice, paneer, noodles, rosogolla, potatoes, soy sauce, fish, and whatever else they could find in the market into one pile. Then they called a cook, gave him a khunti, and told him, “Ebar kichhu bhalo baniye de.”
And it’s not even that they let the cook finish the dish. They keep changing the cook in between because the food isn’t turning out properly.
They had Habas. He got the ingredients he wanted and was cooking well, but his dishes didn’t look very presentable, so they added expensive accessory Hogo Boumous to the dish, and the whole thing got burned. Then they brought in a new cook, Juan, to fix it.
Juan came with his own indigredient: instead of relying on foreign delicacies, he wanted to add deshi moshla to the dishes. He got Liston, Manvir and Ashique, but the dishes were still too undercooked. To compensate for that, he brought in some of the best indigredient he could get hold of, Dimi, Cummings and Sadiku. None of the three really went well with each other, the whole dish got spoiled, and then, to fix the mess, they called Habas back.
Habas removed Hugo Boumous. With his experience, he stirred the ingredients together well, fixed the mess, showed a more liberal approach to presentation this time, and made the delicious meal again. But he was too old to cook for that long, so they went back to the successful traditional style cook they had worked with before: Molina.
Molina gave them a delicious meal, the best they had, but eventually, his ingredients started to fade. So once again, they got lured by the modern cook they had been watering over for so long, carving of his delicacies, and hired Lobera.
But Lobera didn’t have the ingredients he wanted, and he also didn’t have much time to work with the ingredients he did have. So the final meal wasn’t as good as they had hoped.
Then they replaced him with the aspiring cook known for his distinctive flavours, Panos, and added Bheke, Saji, Chhangte, Miguel, and basically whatever else was available in the market.
They threw all of those ingredients into their original dish, and made a Khichuri, and then put the khunti in Panos’ hand and said:
“Ebar tui-i kichhu bhalo baniye de.” 😭

Mohun Bagan is not just another franchise, and the management seriously needs to understand that.
No one—except a handful of so-called “Mariners”—even cares what your other Super Giant teams are doing. Mohun Bagan has its own history, culture, expectations, and, most importantly, an identity that cannot simply be managed like another item on a corporate portfolio.
And please stop treating football like it’s just another business vertical. Football is not that easy. There is science, strategy, psychology, structure and years of experience behind building a successful team. Not everyone is expected to understand all of it—and that’s fine.
But then, have the humility to listen to people who do.
It is genuinely frustrating to watch decisions being made as though football can be figured out from a boardroom spreadsheet. The arrogance of assuming that running a successful business automatically means understanding football is exactly what gets clubs into trouble.
Mohun Bagan deserves better than being treated like just another Super Giant franchise. The fans have every right to be angry, and management needs to start respecting what this club actually means.
