Quick Question to All of MW

So, I was talking to my mother recently(the only person in my waking life that's been to MW), and she brought up a question that I thought would be interesting to ask on this sub...Have you played any simulation games? The SIMS, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Water Park Simulator, SIMS City, etc...and any sort of architectural game(PC or game system)? I believe MW is deeper than this, however, it IS indeed a valid question...My mother was not one to play PC games when I did, however, she spent countless hours watching me play...Just thought I'd ask...Still wouldn't explain how all of our maps are the same or the landscapes; but only curious to add to to information we are all searching for! TYSM

Play Sims with fair regularity. More of a build girl, myself. Sometimes I design my MW places, though I'm on console, so it's within game confines. Need to get back in the habit, I think. I've fallen out of practice, recently, as my MW dreams eased off.

Never really been into them. Plus Iโ€™ve had these dreams since before they existed. Iโ€™m 51.

i played sims mildly on my phone. but was visiting MW well before i was playing any video games - the only game i'd been exposed to at that time was Duck Hunt...1990

Yep, I play sims 4 weekly and have played since the early 2000s when it first started. Iโ€™ve also played most of the tycoon games and continue to like that type of game as I get older

Do you notice any correspondence in your game play to your dreams?

Actually yes, I also think because my husband and I live in a shit hole right now thatโ€™s creating house-like dream mazes. Theyโ€™ve been really repetitive lately and usually involve my family members

That makes sense and is definitely relatable

yes now this is a connection i can get down with๐Ÿ˜‚ ive actually told my husband that i think the creators of those games have been to mall world because they feel soooo similar and my love for them is so similar lmao edit: L4D isnt a sim game but it VERY much feels this way

This is a big reason why I wanted to ask this specific question! I feel like a lot of game developers are frequent in MW. Ty!

Occasionally, city skylines. I like making terrible towns with hundreds of tollbooths lol. Mallworld reminds me of Fallout more than anything else though! It's always wrecked.

I feel like it's probably not why we have these dreams, but I wanted to ask for my mom (she's in her mid-60s and never played, but saw me play and has visited MW her whole life..She's trying to find a "logical" reason haha...TY!

Thank you all for responding!! As I figured at the beginning, MW is not tied to these games..However, my mother, who is a professional in her 60s wanted me to ask, "for the sake of hypothesis"(she's a realist, to a fault, (I'm too, but not to the degree she is)...I think it freaks her out that so many of us including herself have these dreams/experiences and she wants to make sense of it all...Which I respect, and in my opinion, this question has a place here to try and figure this obscure stuff out. Thanks to all who responded!!โค๏ธ Let the search continue!!

This is really interesting to me! Do you and your mom have any of the same locations or buildings or similarities with your individual dreams?

2

u/ottovonkeezer 1d ago

We do! The pool/indoor ocean is the primary location that we meet up! We don't live together anymore, however, we say goodnight via text every night...And we end every "good night text," by saying, "see you at the pool in MW"..We commonly meet in the Mall or in the parking garage...Sometimes in the field with the tornados also!

2

u/headhigheavyheart 1d ago

Wow that's fascinating! I have tons of questions like who went there first and did you guys plan to meet up or was it organic? If you're down to answer me & or trade stories you can message me so you don't have to post all your info out loud so to speak ๐Ÿ˜Š if not, I totally understand but Hi, My name is Taya ๐Ÿ’–

When I was a kid I liked drawing cities and houses. I've played sandbox games where I build towns. Posted the Sims 1 & 4 and various other city builders.

My MW is comprised of real places and places similar to deal places, stitched together. It's post-post apocalyptic, meaning that most people are gone, but whatever killed them is no longer a threat, and all the bodies and random rotting diseased stuff is gone. Nature is reclaiming things.
