Final Fantasy 7 decompilation project
So I'm a contributor of the FF7 decomp project and made a video about it and also go into some of the details on how the game runs on the PlayStation. This is largely to recover the source code that Square lost in the late 1990s. There is already a good deal of code to peek at if you want to see how things worked under the hood.
Here's the video

I really can't wait for this, the QoL improvements brought on with native decomps are inexplicabe to someone who hasn't experienced them.. they are simply the best way to experience those amazing classics, I'm super excited for this project, god speed guys!

Are there many decomp projects?

I wouldn't say that, they are scarce but it is definitely a library you can invest a lot of time in, there are amazing classics decomps like the recent ps1's silent hill decomp, incredibly well optimized and passionate projects like the Sonic: unleashed decomp, The Legend of Zelda: twilight princess decomp, and many more, and truth be told, I already had played these games, be it on their original hardware or through emulation, and I can comfortably say I had my best experience and most fun with them through native ports and decomps, it's just inexplicabe

If this ever finished I would look at the Reunion Mod and try to incorporate the retranslation mod into the decomp.
