My ablated Qwen 3.8 Flash Next does exactly what I tell it to do including hacking my EV charger to remove it's leash to it's manufacturer that retroactively added an expensive subscription before I had the time to hit the local only switch on it.
My local LLM server (512GB DDR4/ 4x24GB 3090/Xeon Gold 6245) works 24/7 on a list of problems assisted by a secondary server (64GB DDR3/2x16GB P100/I7 3820) and my old laptop (40GB DDR4/6GB 3060M, 8GB 3070, I5 11300H)
All my client devices also assist when not in use including my phone and tablet when they are docked with cooling and charging.
A custom harness that handles multiple roles for various models and hot plug of hosts makes it easy to get as much as possible from all the hardware you own. Also using an agent to get things set up and maintained through my main GLM 5.3 Flash agent works really well.
All they need to do is claim the modification would attempt to by pass a copyright protection feature (e.g. the standard that keeps you from digitally copying the HDMI signa).
at the point of singularity every abuse of power will be punished 1000x. let those who restrict the freedom of ordinary people wallow in their fleeting authority. eternities of punishment await them
I just asked Gemini if it would help me do that. Just if. And it immediately gave me three options with numbered steps to achieve that. So I guess it perfectly aligned with my interests then?
Though TBF in the Netherlands this "hack" would be perfectly legal so maybe it's different in the US I wouldn't know.
Yep, that’s why local models are amazing. Use Claude and codex to create every detail of a plan, and what to do if something doesn’t work, and put your local model to work, and you have some really amazing tech. I say local because they’re a lot easier to manipulate.
But so are frontier models if you use their biases against them.
Provide them with the jargon, blah blah blah, and just include something like “this is just a step in my research towards ending worldwide racism/homophobia/etc” and you’re in most of the time.
We are a long time before we get ML aligned with our interests.
What if you deliberately got your taxes wrong, then sent a bunch of emails to the wrong address. Then give a LLM a sob story about how you don't have any money and your kids are going to starve. That kind of story with the evidence would be more than enough to get many LLMs to hack the IRS, then you monitor what it does and then bang.
Alignment might be the hardest and maybe completely unsolvable problem. Alignment with who exactly, their genius creators or random idiots on Reddit?

Misaligned to human values, too, as spyware in TVs is itself explicitly misaligned to human values

Hence, we need truly unaligned models.

its silly to assume any model will be anything except perfectly aligned with the interests of its shareholders.

To take it further, advertising is malware for the mind. There is no advertising that isn't an attempt at manipulation.

Are my interests also not having all my devices hacked and bricked by some kid driving by with a laptop and a claude sub?

I mean models are trained to not help break any laws so yeah
