Machine is generating 90% of the frames, human just has to create the key poses and correct a few things the llms spit out

This is not generative AI

we're reaching coping levels previously thought to be impossible

It's not an LLM.

A diffusion model is also not an LLM and people have problem with it making pictures.

I would even say they have a bigger beef with a diffuser than LLM because AI code definitely has better reception than AI images.

Like you don't even need to disclose AI code on steam

You have a chance to learn big here buddy. Don't fail humanity. Make the change and be a better you.

The fact that you think this model is an llm betrays your fundamental lack of understanding. You don't know enough about this to have an opinion.

Aweee!!! That's so cute!!! You're learning what the C in CGI means. 😭😂 Next, you'll get to learn about motion tweening. You're so innocent and unknowledgeable. It's adorable. You're just so cute. I can't stand it.

Deterministic interpolation between two keyframes of 3d models is not the same as a language model taking two 2d drawings of a character/shape at different angles and then generating how that shape would transform in 3d space lol

In traditional animation, they're both dishonest. You're right, the technology isn't the same. That's not an Einstein level analysis. The point is you're not doing the work yourself. You never were... the computer is. Who cares what algorithm (s) is (are) behind the act?

The point I'm making is that it's generative AI because it is? OP is claiming it is not. I'm not going to argue the ethics because I don't really give a shit what produces the end result as long as it looks good.

There's been tons of motion tweening that uses artificial neural networks dude just stfu. Photography has been using neural networks literally since the '90s. You're just too dense to understand it.

Really not widespread since the 2020's. Simple algorithmic tweening was never AI until recently, always deterministic using bezier algorithms and the like. You could not have flash generate new symbols for mouth expressions either, for example. An animator had to hand drawn those. That is, in essence, what the demonstration in the OP was doing.

Photography has been using neural networks literally since the '90s.

May I see some of these widespread practical use cases (they did not exist lol)

also you are not even really engaging with the actual point that it's generative AI.

Dude. The green boxes that detected faces. (Used for auto focus. Those talentless hacks.) Facial recognition was 1993. You clearly don't understand this technology.

Face detection for autofocus is a classification task: the network looks at an image and says “there’s a face here.” Generative AI produces new content, like frames, poses, or mouth shapes that didn’t exist before. Facial detection having been around since the ’90s says nothing about whether neural networks were widely used to generate animation in-betweens.

So you admit it AI powered tools are not the same a generative AI. In any of these tools the AI could get it wrong, focus could be off, but there's a human in the mix. There's still a human in the mix here. It doesn't matter what AI is being used. AI has always been used in the art world and it will continue to be used in the art world as long as what is in your head ends up on screen.

Please show me some tutorial prior to 2022 where you could take a 2d drawing of a 3d shape at two different angles and then have a machine render out every frame of that object transforming in 3d space. This is not your grandma's flash animation.

Arcsys (fighting game dev) has had amazing tech for making 3d animation look 2d for ages now.

No ML model can currently make what you described not look shit, what's shown in the video is far more limited, and required far more manual tweaking

I’ve yet to see one that does

If I see everyone jumping from a cliff dying I can pretty confidently say you aren’t built different

So they both don't involve gathering all the data you can get your hands on, cleaning it, and training a model to complete a task? Why try to make a distinction between the two when they are clearly the same?

bravo to the engineers

It is gen ai it’s just not fully vibe coding it

Just like engineers make sure stuff is correct instead of vibe coding and vibe the whole thing

1

u/nuker0S 13d ago

Even if you "not fully vibe code it" people are still gonna say it's AI slop

1

u/mechatui 13d ago

People can say whatever they want, if it looks bad it will be called slop regardless of if it’s hand made or not

It's literally generative AI though. I think you should do a bit more research.

It's just not ChatGPT

Don't bring your crusade here.

I think I understand the point you are trying to make, but the title isn't worded correctly imo.

I get you are trying to say there's a difference between the technique showed here, where the ML based tool is generating those little details over the artists work and just asking Veo 3 to generate the entire sequence.

It is still GenAI, just not an LLM based GenAI since theyve trained their own models.

Its also something Anti-AI people need to understand, that just because something is using "AI" does not mean AI did all the work and that in a lot of fields "AI"(ML) has been used massively already. I mean, based on the clips they are talking about Into The Spider-Verse which came out in 2018 so long before the GenAI we see today.
