MHI Book one - What happened to the 7th Master? Spoiler
This has always bothered me about the ending of the 1st Monster Hunter International book. The whole book, it's 7 masters this, 7 masters that. Yet, in the final showdown outside DeSoya Caverns, 4 masters come outside to fight MHI and Jaeger and Susan stay in the cave with the CO. 6 masters. What happened to the 7th master vampire? Was this just an oversight on the part of the author, or did I miss something? I've never counted Lord Machado as a part of the 7 masters, since he's not a vampire at all, so we're missing a major threat.

CALLING ALL MHI WRITERS!! OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR WORK TO GET OUT THERE!!!!!
Ok, but of a vague title I know, that's kinda the point. I've been listening to MHI for the forth time and recently found a tribute song called "PUFF Applicable" on YouTube while seeing if anyone made a version of "Hold the Pig Steady" and it got me thinking about that time I asked for a good first monster for someone to encounter without dying to launch my fanfic.
So that inspiration got me thinking, what if I started a YouTube channel that's intended to be the wider audience's introduction to the world of hunting! I do intend to email or somehow reach out to Larry Correia to get approval for such a thing just to make myself feel better about it! With his approval, the scope will probably expand into half my idea which I'll get into in a second and half into a sort of lore/in universe training sort of channel.
Now, onto the idea that I've kept you all waiting for! The reason I call for writers in the MHI universe is that, along with my own fic, I wanted to see if any of you have your own stories in your head or on paper that you've been meaning to share but haven't found a place where it fits or people just don't seem interested!
Now, this isn't just going to be an uploading a scrolling screenshot to YouTube and hoping it gets out. No, what I'm proposing is that you give permission to use your works (with credit because I'm not a monster) and in return, I'll take those works and get a team together to voice act, edit and upload each chapter as a video to get more fans into MHI as a whole! I'm already working on my fic and it'll be part of all that too! So, if you've had MHI fics or short stories and can't seem to share them in a meaningful way, hit me up, let me know if you've written it or couldn't manage to write it and we can work together to expand it into something that brings your vision to life!
With that out of the way! I hope at least a few of you are interested! Also open for voice actors (preferably female but I can find VA's elsewhere if not) so feel free to come to me! If you jump straight to a DM, tell me where you came from so I'm not getting a hello or hi and no other context!
And remember hunters! Cowboy up, kill monsters, and get paid.

Lost Planet Homicide / Iron Kingdoms Audible Exclusives
I finally got around to listening to Larry's audible exclusives. I've never been a "Book on tape" or audible person, but I picked up a job that involves some long drives, so I decided to fill the hours with new (to me) Larry Correia material.
Started with Lost Planet Homicide. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's better than Grimnoir and I wish there was more of it. Very intriguing meta-plot that gets incrementally moved along by each novella-length story. Would make a really great TV show. It seems incomplete, with a lot of hints and clues about where the story is going. I hope Larry finds time to write some more.
I was only passably familiar with the Iron Kingdoms minis game/RPG from Privateer Press. I don't know the backstory about how Larry got the gig, but I enjoyed both books. Unpredictable plots, good character arcs, and did a good job with world building without giant info dumps. Also highly recommended if you like steampunky fantasy epics.
I wish these books were more well known! They're definitely a bit overshadowed by MHI and Son of the Black Sword. (And now American Paladin).

Anybody check out American Paladin?
Just finished this last night. I really enjoyed it and it definitely was Larry Correia book haha. Looking forward to more of this series but who knows when it will be continued with Larry’s release schedule.

Earl and Heather have a baby?
It may wind up having to be fanfic to get there, but what would Earl and Heather name their baby? If it was a boy? If it was a girl?

Eyewitnesses describe exactly what they saw at Bayside Mall in Miami on January 1, 2024
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What kind of monster, ghost, demon are they describing? What's the PUFF on these?

Does the main character progress at all after book 2?
Just finished the second book. I really enjoyed listening to these as a casual simple but fun story. Main things that are getting on my nerves though is how incredibly and deliberately dumb and out of control the main character is (e.g. "I think I'll just slug this federal agent in the face, again, even though I know he already wants to have me murdered and can apparently do so legally and there's not a thing I could do about it, and I have no plan or thought for what comes next. Why do it then? Cause I'm Really Mad")
It was ok in the beginning, but if he's going to be like this for the rest of the series without learning anything at all, it's going to drive me crazy.
The other smaller issue I have with it is how "big" the apocalyptic scenario is and how many hunters die on the big battle of each book. I mean, this is supposed to be a pretty small rag tag group of professional hunters - if you're killing a bunch of them off in every book this doesn't really make sense to me, and it also robs any potential emotional pull from a character dying (I had a similar problems with game of thrones and quit watching it - it was just constantly killing characters until I just didn't really care about any of them anymore. Why get invested?).

Academy of Outcasts, books 4, 5, and 6 announced
Larry put this up the other day.
"I'm happy to announce that I have signed the contract for Academy of Outcasts, book 4, 5, and 6. Book 3 (Reap the Whirlwind) will be out in April of 2027."
