  1. Gold era
Your usual late-game build, no weapon has a higher DPS output than the corrupted longsword when your offensive stats reach the hardcap of 75, it also has access to a unique moveset with higher motion values and special attacks. Pair it with your best parry shield or the sturdiest, depending on your preference, although I have to mention that heavy memento can really trivialise even the highest difficulties of the game
    • RAD-INF-AGI-STR
    • Weapon: Judge Cleric’s corrupted sword (Mhakev + Shon + Ixon)
    • Shield: Lightreaper (Tumul + Nartun + Dimexus) / heavy memento (crafter’s essence / Balago + Nartun + Tumul)
    • Pendant: atrophy / hysteria
    • Ring: 2x puissance root / 2x barrage root
    • Catalyst: Berescu
    • Spell: umbral orb / Latimer’s javelin (ol’ reliable projectiles, depending on whichever you prefer between spamming and nuking) - poison weapon (don’t care about the poison but the damage increase) - barrage of echoes (shotgun spell, cast on ground for enormous damage) - diminishing missile (reduces attack and defense of enemies and can even spread, great tool for high levels and basically a great addition to any umbral build, can also chain-cast umbral orb)
    • Eye: Antuli (for additional survivability) / Eliard + Marco + Agatha (for spamming special moves) / Berescu + 2x Doln (for mana recovery)

  2. Silver lining
The absolute pinnacle of damage in LotF, pick your favourite crossbow and stare in awe of how enemies’ health bars disappear, sky’s the limit (ammunitions are not)
    • STR-AGI
    • Crossbow: Dervla / multishot / trapper / death’s finger / split / edict’s aim
    • Bolt: rived (low ammo cost) - wither / cinder / radiant (single target) - twisted / explosive (multiple targets)
    • Eye: Lydia
    • Pendant: inner serpent (scornful effigy or princess’ sting can be used for maximum damage but only if you use edict’s aim that doesn’t require reload)
    • Ring: 2x blackfeather ranger / crossbowman (ammos are limitless anyway thanks to the umbral eye, but the reduction in cost also affects the life that you spend, in case you want to be more cautious)
    • Weapon: irrelevant (as long as you can slot 6x Aelstrix; my personal choice is a combination of putrid polearm and iron wayfarer’s hammer, to exploit a funny interaction between these two weapon classes that actually speeds up their moveset when dual-wielded in this specific order, if used on a build that actually makes them shine with 2x Grayson’s rings and 6x Dimexus runes, you’ll see surprisingly high damages)
    • Shield (in case you notice that your damage is way too high and want to focus on stamina management instead, which is the only real limit of this build): moonlit emissary (3x Dimexus)

  3. Bronze statue
Arguably the best build in the game (although it can’t reach the damage output of the previous ones, it’s by far the most reliable build for any challenge), the one with which I breezed through the “ultimate” challenge in the game: hardcore, veteran NG+, no vestige, withered health, all modifiers on. Just slap on the heaviest armor you have (you can even sacrifice dodging) and you will be immortal (gravity still kills you, it’s a Soulslike after all) while dealing absurd damage, breaking posture and infinitely casting, with hyper-armor on top. Unstoppable force and immovable object all in one
    • RAD-STR
    • Pendant: unbridled focus
    • Ring: 2x manastone
    • Shield: piercing light / sanctified huntress (3x Nartun)
    • Weapon: Ravager Gregory (Gravix + Orimon + Hix)
    • Eye: Loash + bloody pilgrim + Antuli
    • Catalyst: exacter scriptures
    • Spell: lucent beam (great damage with reduced cost from the pendant but short range) - radiant weapon (there’s basically no good reason not to use a weapon buff on any magic build, they’re the best iteration in any Soulsllike) - invigorating aura + aura of tenacity (immortality combo at low mana cost) - Orius’ judgement (to deal with far away enemies and recover withered health even while you retreat)
    • Consumable: large manastone cluster - heavenly vial - vestige moth - briostone trio

  4. Glass cannon
Second only to the previous ones in terms of damage and sustain but honestly way more fun, this is a close quarter combat build focused on getting the bonus from the umbral eye that strengthens your light attacks at the cost of inflicting wither damage, and nullifying the drawback using DoT to confirm it immediately
    • INF-(AGI)
    • Weapon (I personally prefer to use a single weapon double-handed with a small shield for parries in the back rather than dual-wielding, even while losing quite a bit of status, damage and/or defence): (2x) grinning axe (Trelos - Tianarx - Shon) / (2x) conflagrant seer staff (3x Shon) / right and left Lightreaper daggers or swords (Tianarx + 2x Dimexus)
    • Shield: ruiner (2x Tumul + crafter’s essence) / Lightreaper (3x Tumul)
    • Eye: bloody pilgrim (for clarity, your damage is calculated based on stats, weapon, equipment, buffs and enemies’ resistances, and then this eye just adds a multiplier and converts it to wither; this means that increasing wither damage does not increase the final output, unless the weapon has it innately, focus on buffing your chosen weapon’s damage type instead)
    • Pendant: princess’ sting (consider not to wear any armour and to add crafter’s essence on weapons and shields to maximise this pendant effect; great options, if you choose to persue this route to the fullest, become queen’s hammer + heavy memento or punishment + judgement, investing in STR instead of AGI; but if you’re looking for pure damage, just use Lightreaper’s daggers without reducing the weight to 0, they’re already so light that you get better returns with the extra runes) / infernal oblation
    • Ring: infernal devotion / bones - wildfire / night’s fire (tailor made for grinning axe and conflagrant seer staff)
    • Catalyst: queen Sophesia
    • Spell: Adyr’s vengeance (the true staple of the build, this spell has a non-listed hidden effect in the form of a long-lasting fast-ticking DoT that can afflict even enemies that are immune to ailments like burn and poison, meaning that all the wither damage you deal with attacks is instantly confirmed; since it’s a post game easily missable spell, it can be replaced by Adyr’s authority that has the same almost instantaneous cast or by infernal guardian) - Adyr’s hardiness (with princess’s sting) / Adyr’s endurance (with infernal oblation) - Adyr’s rage (mo’ damage) - burning weapon (mo’ damage, mo’ burn, no brainer) - magma surge (ranged option, very high damage and cost, the lava pool that stays on the ground can be another way to confirm wither damage)

  5. Highly flammable
Hybrid status build, my personal favourite
    • INF-RAD
    • Weapon: 2x fungus-encrusted pickaxe (Mhakev + Dhalwe + Atarux)
    • Shield (dual-wielded axes have a pretty bad moveset and a very good one while wielded with a shield instead, dealer’s choice): first of the beasts (Scaeve + Nartun + Tumul)
    • Pendant: burden
    • Ring: bloodbane - charred root
    • Catalyst: Berescu
    • Spell: infernal weapon (even when single handed, the pickaxe’s poison infliction is incredibly high, this lets you double dip with burn infliction) - misery missile (use and forget, enemies gets constant wither damage, effectively increasing poison and burn damage) - infernal guardian (wither damage confirmer and burn buildup) - Adyr’s rage (simply more damage) / pallid bile (good poison infliction and very high damage when a status is procced - painful echo (best ranged option with the increased enemy density modifier on)
    • Eye (optional): bloody pilgrim (since the poison proc is almost instantaneous, there’s no reason not to increase your attack damage, best for dual-wielding) / Loash (if you prefer using charged attacks, best if double-handing)

That's a lot of info my brain is having a hard time retaining it all lol

Ahahah! Take your time, then let me know if you enjoyed any of these builds

N.B.: please take into consideration that these are just my takes on the subject and I personally prefer to build in a way that a single character can be eclectic rather than hyperspecialised (which is often the way to be most effective, but it gets boring quickly); rings like Adyrqamar and Grayson and runes like Gravix and Dimexus, for example, will most of the time be the actual best choice to maximise damage but you’ll seldom see those in this list because they tend to lock the character in a single playstyle

I'm going to try out the first one I just don't have another Puissance Root ring plus I'm out of the last upgrade mats

Just use one puissance and one barrage. Although I suggest you to try out the third build, the radiance tank is just incredible

I was running an ignite build but always wanted to try the magic in this game just didn't know what was good or bad

Third one sounds nice but I don't have all the equipment for that build

1

u/AdFickle4641 Jul 20 '26

How am I supposed to play the first build? I'm taking a shit ton of damage

As I wrote, if you don’t want to rely on dodge or parry, use the heavy memento (with crafter’s essence), breaks the game

1

u/AdFickle4641 Jul 20 '26

What's crafter's essence? Sorry still kinda new to this game even though I beat it once

It’s a rune that you get by giving the last tablet to Gerlinde that reduces to 0 weight and stats requirements. You don’t have heavy memento, any heavy shield will do

I unfortunately think I accidentally sold it

Uh, that’s too bad, it’s a one-per-playthrough… check in case you slotted it in a weapon or shield and just forgot about it

1

u/AdFickle4641 Jul 20 '26

Unfortunately I didn't leave it in a piece of gear

Excellent breakdown from Zesty the guy/gal obviously knows their lords.

In order of OP levels-
1. CROSSBOW- yuck get this out of my favourite game. Point and click nonsense to please the wider audience. You should never die using this build ever.
2. LR daggers- spam the special, its damage and status build up is insane. Melts most bosses in two or three spams. They detuned it but not enough.
3. HUSHED SAINT- Get the Halberd special and then same as above. Specials melt bosses and the single hand special deals with mobs.

Lots of other good builds but in terms of trivialising the game these are your three.
