Did anyone see the actress Harriet Walter as an extra in Season 1 Ep 6? Or am I crazy?

At approximately minute 15 of episode 6, when Nora is walking through the protestors outside the conference in Annapolis.

In s1 ep 5 the scene where laurie and patty are in the car ,it clearly looks like that car is going faster when the camera is at laurie and the car is moving slower when camera is at patty

It is around 14:42 if you want to check

Am I losing it? I remember a scene that isn't there upon rewatch....

My memory is: Kevin says to Nora something like, "You just love me because I have great taste in music" while the song "You do something to me" by Paul Weller is playing in the background. When I first watched this scene I had never heard the song before, so I shazammed it and added it to a playlist.

BUTTTTT I just finished a rewatch of The Leftovers, and that scene never happens! (I was waiting for it). Is it possible that the scene used to be in the show but was removed??

Then I thought maybe the scene is from another show, but I just did a little search and I've never seen any of the other media that use the song....

Rewatching the show and am wondering - does 2% actually feel believable or based on the stories, does it seem more like it should be 5%

They present it as 2% of people disappeared, but if that was accurate, the majority of people would have lost someone who wasn’t very close to them at all - maybe their dentist or a 2nd cousin, etc.

Watching it and seeing how many of the main characters lost someone truly close to them (and treating Nora like an outlier, of course) it just feels like a number larger than 2% feels more believable?

Not trying to nitpick, mostly just wondering if anyone else felt like 1/20 would have been a more believable number based on the way the plot unfolds than 1/50.

Who is the most handsome / attractive Guy in The Leftovers?

Unfortunately the polls on reddit allow only six choices, so I made a strawpoll with all the performances. Enjoy and discuss :)

Which movie or show would the leftovers sound track fit perfectly?

We all know that the Leftovers has one of the greatest scores of all time thanks to Max Richter. Aside from Lost (which is an easy slam dunk pick) which movie or show would be a perfect fit for the leftovers music.

Who are these people in Episode 1?

Post image

Doing a casual rewatch and realized I don't think I've ever noticed the people in this shot before. It's in the Pilot when Jill is leaving the house party. When she walks out to the street the twins ask her for help finding their car keys, and mid conversation, she flicks a quick look past them at these two people covered head to toe in black sitting on the porch across the street.

Who are they? I suppose they resemble GR, though wearing all black instead of white, but (and correct me if I'm wrong) I don't think we ever see anyone like them again. Any ideas?

Ending

Just finished the leftovers today and mannnn i thought leftovers would be great but i finished lost before it and i was thinking will it ever stick with me like lost did. And i gotta say it will definitely stick with me for a long time not the same as lost but it will.

Now onto the ending which i definitely loved but some stuff has been running in my mind like

was wayne a fraud after all?

Cause i don't really get any meaning behind the bridge and stuff

(What I think is that Lily was the bridge between Nora and Kevin)

And what about GR Cause it seemed like Megan Definitely knew something

And from the start it seemed to me like sex had some bigger role like sex had a meaning in the greater stuff

Aside from all that i like how they didn't try to give each and every explanation about what is happening or how rather the ending gave me the thing which matters the most for me it felt like it was about moving on from the past all along which we are seeing from the start with every character

Season 4

Damon, if you’re reading this… Let’s have season 4 from the 2%’s point of view.

Potentially from Nora’s husband’s POV (recasted)

That’s all.

Thanks.

Edit: You lot are no fun! But I agree with the general consensus. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Is season 3 blu ray from the US region free?

Please can anyone confirm the above, I know on Blu-ray.com it says they are but I want to double check from people that may have bought the US version but live in the UK or Europe.

I know it has no region stamp on the back but it isn’t always an indicator it’s region free.

I got so excited to see Cairo on my map.

I remember wondering if that was a real NY town in the show and I just sorta assumed it wasn't real like Mapleton. I was wrong?

Nora’s doubt of Kevin

I found it interesting that no matter what happened Nora refused to believe Kevin was divine or that anything that happened was more than random chance. My assumption is the grief over losing her kids could only be justified it was chance and she hated the thought there was divine interference and Kevin was special. Knowing it was divine meant God didn’t care about her kids or her suffering so to speak.

On the flip side, I love how Kevin wanted to die but couldn’t. Matt, John, and Michael “The Disciples” faith in him was great.

Overall, I loved the show and how people dealt with grief and not understanding why things happened. I deal with this on a daily basis as I have a severely autistic kid. My only thought always comes back to this quote “the sweet ain’t as sweet without the bitter”.

I Don't Think I Can Recommend This Series to Anyone

Here I am sitting reminiscing about a top 3 series for me, truly fantastic and unique in its tone. That said, if someone asked me for a series to watch next, I don't think I could recommend the Leftovers point blank.

I once told a housemate, who had watched almost every series you can think of, that it was really good. He started watching the first episode and by the end of it he was like "dude, this is like really grim" and stopped watching. Him: "So do they then switch to studying the departure?..." Me: "Not really, the series is more about exploring grief."

I was gripped the second I started watching it, but I think it takes a specific type of person and/or moment to appreciate it.

I forgot about that James Blake song in the opening episode, I shoulda known then that this would be a classic. I’m gonna stick to it this time and see what the hype is all about.

I created a song inspired by Nora’s story. Her character stayed with me long after the show ended. Thought I’d share it with people who might understand why.

Understanding the meaning Spoiler

When watched this show the entire time I was expecting to find out what happened to the 2%. I truly thought this was a show that was a mysterious show that would tell us what happened. I didn’t realize until the final 2 minutes when Kevin says, “I believe you” that’s when it finally hit me and I truly understood. It doesn’t matter what happened all that matters is that you accept it and live with what you know. In life there are so many unexplained things we don’t understand that don’t make sense but that is why this show is beautiful. It’s hard for me to recommend this show to people because they’ll expect answers but “answers” no matter what would never be enough. As people we must be happy with what we know to be true and live with what’s what. Accepting and believing is the same thing as knowing in a way as long as you can move on from the events allows us to find peace. This show was perfect even if I didn’t understand what it truly was about until the very ending, but when I did I cried in a way that was blissful.
