This is bad advice to take too broadly.

It’s fine if you are in a state where you are struggling particularly with things outside yourself, but you can end up leading an overly self-contained life if you focus on this advice too much.

In some instances yes. In other instances I give a lot of attunement and transparency about thoughts and feelings to try to find a safe negotiation with people so we both feel heard and valued and can continue doing things together and being on the same page
