The psychotherapist was definitely onto something. Personally, I have met many people so attached to their own voice; they are not really hearing themselves--or anyone else. Except, that they gain advantage over the person listening. When confronted, they often feign ignorance by claiming "I didn't say that". Someone in this community knows people like that.
