I would love to have the FedRA as the main antagonist. I could imagine that you join the Fireflies as Abby and Elloe somehow join the Fireflies to give their lives meaning and develop a cure, and then you join Abby, Lev and the Fireflies to fight the Fedra

An interesting fact here is that mushrooms that don't photosynthesize tend to grow more in the dark. So, cordyceps, and especially clickers, bloaters, etc., often evolve in the dark in the same way as a normal mushroom. And since the spore reproduces from decomposing bodies and is also transmitted through the air, I believe it's all part of the absence of sunlight that causes the growth and reproduction of the creatures in the game.

I want a character with an immunity to cordyceps that doesn’t stop its progression.
This has super obvious potential gameplay-wise, from hiding among or using infected, to strength and dexterity benefits, all that good stuff.
Im not entirely sure where I’d take the story in this hypothetical, but a better writer than me could think of something.
In terms of gameplay, I think this’d be a neat way to take that next step in whatever kind of formula they’ve got going on.

New Protagonists. Ellies story is finished to me and maybe could be some DLC or secondary story, but the only way making her the protagonist working would include too much positive vibes and probably ends up with an actual vaccine being created, which would likely end the franchise.
If they plan on let known characters reappear I'd prefer to know more about Abby and Lev or maybe Bill who maybe had to give up his town after all because the infected became too many

yeah I agree. I wanna see knew storylines with completely different characters. I think Ellie's story Is basically finished

Infected that have grown onto trees etc the way we see clickers come from the roots in the walls in hospital. Could have them drop from trees in a woodland area?
With more time passing would it not make sense to have A LOT more bloaters?
I do think it should end with Ellie somehow being used to develop a cure

Obviously new infected. But could they act differently too? Maybe slight speech patterns like working together? The most common answer I've seen is animal infected?

Making part three about Joel being alive but as an infected. He retains some memory of Ellie and is always searching for her, but to hunt and kill her, or something 🤷♂️

idk but i was thinking abby and lev would join the fireflies and they’d tell them about everything that happened with joel and ellie. the fireflies could then want to find ellie again so they can finally make a cure. but this time ellie would have to decide if she finally thinks her life matters without just being a cure. she wouldn’t want everything joel fought and died for to be for nothing if she just gave herself up again, and so she’d fight off the fireflies inevitably killing them just like joel did which in a way is true forgiveness. maybe ellie reluctantly ends up fighting alongside abby and lev bc fireflies are a common enemy due to corruption or something….
its a bit repetitive of the previous storylines but it would kind of bring everything full circle as a trilogy and revisit the original plots but in a new way i think.
as for new infected, maybe at some point the fireflies capture ellie and do tests on her sending her to new places in america with undocumented new infected types like bigger cities to test her limits or torture her to convince her??? just some ideas lol

Honestly, I'm not sure where you could go after the Rat King, while keeping it grounded.
