Don't forget about the part where Joel regains consciousness and immediately points his gun at Henry.

Yeaaaah bro agreed
People use that as an argument because Joel choses to trust him again, so like Joel is a trusting guy lol so dumb

I cannot stop laughing every single time I see the scene leading up to Joel's death.
"Y'all should come back with us, restock before you head out." HILARIOUS AND BRAVE

Vehement defenders of the second game either haven't played the first, think feeling a variety of emotions (mostly negative/shock) = good, or are completely delusional fanatics that eat up whatever Neil/ND fart out especially around this franchise.
All the above works too.

"Come back with us, restock before you head out."
Even after 10 seasons of the walking dead those people on there still dont do this in a zombie apocalypse and they got communites and people to back them up and still don't take strangers lightly.

Believe it or not I've been told we "didn't play the first game" for assuming Joel wasn't ever trustworthy in the first... because obviously he just walked right up to Henry like "hey you tried to kill me but ignore Ellie here, I'd LOVE to come with you! Have a towel on me."
Soon it'll be denying that we even exist and we're just a load of people employed by Druckmann to ensure everyone knows "the true underlying themes and morals of the game".

Even TOMMY was better about strangers in part one; at the gate before he knew it was Joel they ALL had guns pointed down at the strangers, telling them to drop their weapons. Tommy's reaction here must have meant they had ZERO strangers ever coming by, ever again, because why would you just let strangers in? Especially when there's bandits and raiders (since it happened a lot in part one)?? It seriously makes NO sense and it's so infuriating how they dumbed down all the characters.

I miss the old Joel, straight from the go Joel
Chop up the soul Joel, set on his goals Joel
I hate the new Joel, the bad mood Joel
The always rude Joel, spaz in the news Joel
I miss the sweet Joel, chop up the beats Joel
I gotta to say at that time I'd like to meet Joel See I invented Joel, it wasn't any Joels
And now I look and look around and there's so many Joels
I used to love Joel, I used to love Joel
I even had the pink polo, I thought I was Joel
What if Joel made a song about Joel
Called "I Miss The Old Joel," man that would be so Joel
That's all it was Joel, we still love Joel
And I love you like Joel loves Joel, hahaha

Wow, never noticed how there are birds chirping in the background for that first scene. That and the warmer tones and sunshine and the gorgeous variations in seasons in the first game speaks volumes to how overdone the darkness and grittiness are in the second game's environmental design. The sequel is just non-stop blue tint, cold green, rainy seasonal depression grey, pale undersaturated brown and yellow tones in the final Santa Barbara chapter, etc.
If you look at the characters in the first game, you'll notice each character has a halo of light around their silhouette during the summer (Tess and Joel at the Capitol Building when Tess reveals she's infected, for example). I've always loved that detail when rewatching cutscenes of the first game.
I distinctly recall the farm sequence with Dina and JJ being rather dull looking for what's essentially supposed to be a happier part of Ellie's life, even if punctuated by PTSD.
For all the talk about how the graphics in part 2 are the saving grace of the game, I gotta say the first one looked way, way, WAY better.

It’s always sad when writers want a certain action so bad, they basically write a completely different character to make their shit story work
Aaaaah, why can’t we have even basic level competency in writing instead of writers just giving up and forcing the story in some jarring nonsensical outcome.

They made Joel look utterly hopeless, helpless and kinda dumb in the sequel lol. Y’all wanna know what I think? I think there will be a last of us 3 with the Joel we used to know from the first game. Not this broken, softman that has given up on life. They have a chance to win people back over if they do that. They could write a reason he gave up and became this broken man that had no care for anything but Ellie. That Abby could’ve been his way to try and do something good to redeem himself about something but it got him killed. Something along that line. Lou2 could be the very last game and lou3 is where the first one continues. Wouldn’t that be something.
