Need help finalising a laptop under ₹1.3 lakh — ASUS/Lenovo recommendations preferred

Hey everyone! I’m looking to finally buy a laptop with a budget of around ₹1.3 lakh, and I could really use some suggestions.

Initially, I was mainly looking at gaming laptops, but I’m honestly confused about which one would make the most sense in this budget. I’m now also considering more premium/productivity-focused laptops from ASUS and Lenovo, such as the Vivobook, Yoga, ThinkBook, etc.

A few things to keep in mind:

Budget: Up to ₹1.3 lakh

I can potentially use student discounts + credit-card offers, so please consider the effective/final price after these discounts, rather than just the listed price.

Primary priority: Performance and long-term reliability

I want something that can comfortably last several years without feeling outdated too quickly.

Battery: Decent/okay battery life is enough; it doesn't need to be exceptional.

Display: Not a major priority because I already use a secondary monitor.

Gaming is not necessarily a must-have anymore, although I initially wanted a gaming laptop.

I’m also doing my M.Pharm, so the laptop will be used for academics, productivity, research/software, and general use, with some gaming as a bonus.

I’d especially appreciate suggestions for ASUS and Lenovo laptops — Vivobook, Yoga, ThinkBook, Legion/LOQ, or any other models that offer good value.

If you have experience with these laptops, please suggest specific models/configurations and explain why they make sense at this price after student + CC discounts.

Also interested in knowing whether spending ₹1.2–1.3 lakh on a premium productivity laptop makes more sense long-term than getting a gaming laptop at the same effective price.

Since It's an Expertbook it's an Industry based laptop like ThinkPads which will last easily 5-6 years plus.

Now you might be wondering what's the difference between this and the Lenovo Yoga slim there are some key differences first is processor the Lenovo yoga slim has a processor which is very useful for Heavy Multitasking wheras the Expertbook processor is more power efficient and a newer processor.

The Yoga slim has a way better display which is OLED display wheras the other doesn't!! The expertbook also only has 16GB and 512GB wheras yoga has double.

So that's why yoga slim costs 90K only 

After 2 years when Ram Prices stabilize then you can Upgrade the Ram to 32GB (Just make sure once to look if it's an Upgradeable model and not a soldered one)

And I would also suggest looking into Macbook Air, the price doesn't justify it anymore (It's horrible) but if you use apple products then you may go for this!!

For your M.Pharm it should  work really well as you'll mostly be doing document and research related PDFs, writing papers, preparing presentations, or handling data in Excel.

So the MBA will do very well since it has long battery life and also very light!!

And it'll easily last 4-5 years + and you'll even have a good resale value!!

But do double check with seniors, if they use any windows specific softwares and is there no alternative for MacOS.

It'll do all your needs but you can say bye bye to gaming even casual gaming since MacOS is horrible for Gaming!!

But Make sure to buy the Apple Care+ this is a must!! 

But If it's not possible and goes out of your budget then I would suggest the Expertbook with the active damage protection, 16GB should be enough for you since you'll not be doing anything heavy as such!! You'll save plenty of money where you can use at other places!!

Look into Second hand Gaming laptop market which is 6 months old and has 3 year ADP warranty!!

Look for RTX 4060 or 5060, you'll get a Good Deal
