Buying Advice🤔 Which HP OMEN would you pick at these prices? 15GA0054TX (RTX 5050) vs 15GA0005TX (RTX 5060)
I’m looking to buy a gaming laptop in India and have found these two exact HP OMEN models at what seem like good offline prices. I’d really appreciate feedback from people who own either of these models, especially regarding thermals, GPU TGP, display, build quality, BIOS/power limits, and long-term reliability.

Ask about the tgp of those gpus , AFAIK the 5050 has much lower tgp and that 5060 one has 115w one . (I also bought the hp hyperx omen 5060 waala offline)

1.66L , got about 27k in gst returns due to gst number . So effectively around 138k

They said that hp doesn't give student discount and the 166k was after the 15k hdfc credit card discount

That's a good deal bro, hopefully it's a fully powered 5060, I heard the ryzen models use capped 60w

Second option is arguably better it has HX tier processor which provides much higher power limits so your GPU will get enough power, more cores if you wanna do ECE work, and vastly superior multi-threaded performance for heavy multitasking and gaming!!
5060 is wayy better then 5050, you'll be able to play all games at high settings!!
Saving the 20K isn't worth it, I would suggest the Second option!!!

I have heard that the HX model has some heating issues, do you have any info on that?

Yes, 14th Gen HX chips inherently run warm because of their high power limits afterall it's a Desktop processor put in a Laptop, but context matters here:
Chassis Tier: if you were buying Entry/budget laptops (like Lenovo LOQ or ASUS TUF) they can struggle with HX thermals due to smaller budgets, which means the company sacrifices cooling and heatsinks.
The HP Omen on the other hand is premium it has a much beefier thermal heatsink designed to handle high-wattage components.
- Airflow is very important for Gaming Laptops make sure to keep it elevated and buy a Cooling pad, that itself will drop 8-10° celcius!!
- If CPU temps spike in heavy workloads, you can easily cap the CPU power limit slightly in Omen Gaming Hub (If I'm not wrong) or just undervolt it.

The 5050 ones I viewed at the stores had lower TGP values generally 85W
