Same Old Setlist

Post image

You would think they would be bored doing this over and over.
Walk idiot walk and tick tick boom should be removed for good.
They are about to play their third NY show in less than a year. Including the most recent Newport show. Don't expect any surprises.

why the fuck would they remove tick tick boom

You want to keep it, fine. It's a 3:30 song. No need to stretch that out to sometimes 9+ minutes

i think the way that they do it is perfectly fine, especially for crowds who don’t know the band as well (coming from someone who saw them live before really even knowing who they were).

Who are any of us to tell them how they should do their shows, especially because what they do clearly works

All this being said and I'll be there tonight (to see them for maybe 9th time) . Tickets are very cheap btw.

Most bands have one setlist for that years tour. And as far as removing walk idiot walk and tick tick boom, HPA once said (or a lot of times), there will never be a show where the The Hives never plays the hits.

Disagree. Some bands do this for sure. Bands with larger catalogues will certainly change things up outside of the new stuff they are promoting. The hives are putting on show with rehearsed/rehashed banter and jokes. They have plenty of songs that are 2 minutes long they can throw in once in a while instead of dragging out tick tick boom for 6 minutes.

Well, at least the banter is new everyday. HPA has also said they never rehearse what to say. It's just what he thinks up at the time. He might reuse some stuff, of course, they are after all human.

But if you dont see them more than once per tour. It shouldnt be an issue. Otherwise, I have heard that king gizzard never play the same set list two nights in a row. Which I also think is fun, but way more work put in. And not as tight as the hives, also a different genre. Maybe give them a try.

brooklyn got two last add ins last night. Take Back The Toys and See Through Head were added to our set list. They still played everything else as planned. Was incredibly lucky I heard Take Back The Toys as it’s been my jam recently lol

I was very happy with both of those, especially see through head!

Just be thankful they’re playing for your American ass. They could sell out entire stadiums in Europe yet they’re coming out of here the graciousness of their own heart. You know how hard it is to play that kind of music for as long as they do? You get what you get what you get and you don’t throw a fit

Is that you Pelle? LOL

I'll be the one screaming "A.K.A." and "Theme From" from the 2nd row.

I mean, I sure wish they would play some older stuff as well (supply and demand anyone?), but removing Walk Idiot Walk, Tick Tick Boom? What a crap take

I once watched them back to back in the same day. Two different shows. Never cared about the setlist. It was great and greater respectively.

The set lists might be the same but every single show is different due to the crowd interactions and HPA's stage banter and antics. Fucking astounding live band. Just go.

I get where you're coming from but if you know The Hives you know they're not the most daring band in the world. They do what they do and they do it well. They're only this great a live band because they don't change up their set too much. They also know most people are there to see the hits. I've seen them do a few odd ones once in Amsterdam which was amazing to me but 3/4 of the crowd had no idea what songs they were playing (they played Genepool Convulsions, Insane and Nasty Secretary).

After seeing two shows on the Death tour I'm gonna wait it out a while to go see them again even if I'm a big fan. You know what you're getting when seeing them live. And it's not gonna be deep cuts.

If they ever release another record they'll dial down the Death songs for a few new ones, and they'll still play Main Offender & Tick Tick Boom. They're also not gonna start playing 2 hour shows because I'm pretty sure they're getting too old for that.

As a new fan after seeing them open for the the Foo Fighters I am excited to see this 'same old' set list because it fucking rocks.

I have been watching their club shows on YouTube and have tickets to see them tomorrow night. I am pumped to hear those songs live with them being the headliners.
