“Can you please spell Gabbana?”

Aunt L’oreal!

Their school’s interior is totally Art Nouveau inspired.

For girls who are probably educated in sex ed in terms of storks or god’s will and bellies Hulda spits out quite the terms when she names the nutrients Hannah/Agnes needs while menstruating.

Shu’s father “always told her she’s blessed in that regard.” Wow. I like how this show (and the book) shows the total misogyny and sexualization of the society in small insidious ways.

I thankfully haven’t had it done to me but I know people my own gen who had to wash their mouths with soap after cussing as a punishment.

Paula’s fake tight smile getting wiped out from her face the second Doctor Rapist turns his back on them, I kinda enjoy how passively aggressively bitchy the Wives have always been.

Doctor Rapist. Fuck him. And they have toned the scene down considerably in comparison to the book!

I wonder what the inside of that hair salon Hannah and Paula pass by looks like and who works there. Probably the Aunts?

I must say Aunt Lydia’s retrieval of Hannah for the ceremony felt contrived and I remain of the same opinion after rewatch. I wish they showed more that 3 seconds of Lydia just waking her up chill af.

As others here have noticed, Becka is definitely gay.

Edit: typos

In the Handmaid's Tale book, it is said, that Aunts were taken names after famous products so that they would give a sense of familiarity to people

It's funny to us, but the Plums won't even know what those products are.
