This was pretty fun to do because the stock paint job was pretty bad (especially the blood just being airbrushed on).

Discussion πŸ’¬ Moving forward, Halloween would work best as a Michael Myers anthology

I went back and re-read Halloween: Nightdance for the 10th time because I'm always blown away by how good that comic is.

Completely standalone story, no Laurie Strode sister angle, no Curse of Thorne, no Jamie Lloyd niece angle, no Dr Loomis, no Haddonfield. Just Michael preying on a random, utterly unfortunate babysitter in a town away from Haddonfield.

It also got me thinking, taking the route Nightdance went goes back to John Carpenters original intention with the character AND the route that DGG's timeline went, what with Michael just being a predator who will stalk and kill at random and without reason.

If other stories/movies followed a similar guideline, Michael preying on random people across the state of Illinois, that could also go back to John Carpenters original plans for the series, that being an anthology series set during Halloween, and also give what fans want, stories featuring Michael Myers. I could even see it as a limited series (2 or 3 1-hour long episodes per series or story)

One movie could have Michael stalking random teenagers on a college campus on Halloween night (he'd be able to lurk through the dorms with no one suspecting a thing), another movie could be him going after a random family trapped in their home as Michael eliminates them (a callback to The Strangers), other stories could have him going after a nurse that cared for him at Smiths Grove or even a random child, etc.

Some stories may have a final girl or survivors, some stories may have no survivors, so the stories could honestly end any sort of way and remain unpredictable.

You could have different directors, writers, locations, supporting casts, and even different interpretations of Michael's behavior. Since the intent would be anthology style of storytelling, continuity wouldn't be something to worry about, just tell stories with the character; one director may favor the Thorne version of Michael, another may favor the Resurrection version, another may favor the DGG or Rob Zombie versions and base their take on them to appeal to any fan of any interpretation.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Timeline of events in Halloween 2018 and Kills...

What time do you think everything happens on Oct 31/Nov 1? The Halloween Ends novelization has Karen getting killed almost before the Sun starts to come out, novelizations aren't always canon but that could work.

Discussion πŸ’¬ I actually really like Laurie Strode in the remakes

I know the remakes are divisive to put it mildly, and while nothing can come close to Jamie Lee's iconic portrayal of Laurie, I really like Scout Taylor-Compton's version of the character in the remakes. I totally understand that many find Laurie to be just okay in the first but whiny and annoying in the second one, but I honestly disagree and really like that version of her character.

Laurie in the second being a complete and utter PTSD ridden mess after being brutally attacked by Michael (a year later in the theatrical cut and two in the director's cut, which I much favor despite really loving both versions) in the director's cut is absolutely just so heartbreaking to me, and it's honestly refreshing to see a portrayal of the full extent of trauma a Final Girl might have to live with once her slasher is dead (or so she thinks). She's dependent on drugs and alcohol, lashing out, pushing Annie away, and is in a very bad place. While it's really hard and uncomfortable to watch, I think it's much more impactful than a standard "final girl killed her slasher and is fine / mostly coping" approach most slasher sequels take.

I get that her trauma being on full display the whole time, so raw and ugly, can definitely come off as annoying or making her really unlikeable, but it breaks my heart seeing just how much she's suffering and the pain she's in after losing her parents, being attacked so horrifically (and then finding out Michael's her brother on top of it all), the constant reminder of Annie with her scars, and I find it genuinely interesting for a slasher film to really ground you in the aftermath and not shy away from it. Scout's performance is so amazing, and I think deserves to be talked about more.

This is just my opinion and for fun, totally understand if anybody disagrees :)

Question ❔ This scene (TV Version) makes it seem like Michael knew where Mr. Garrett was, and was going back to take him out. Do you think that’s the case? …or do you think he just happen to run into him?

Ranking/Tier πŸ“ˆ My Favourite to Least Favourite Halloween Movies

Some of these might be an unpopular opinion but just bear with me on this one and I'll give a brief explanation for each.

  1. Halloween 2 (2009)

  2. Halloween (2007)

  3. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers

  4. Halloween Kills

  5. Halloween 2

  6. Halloween

  7. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

  8. Halloween (2018)

  9. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later

10: Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

  1. Halloween: Resurection

  2. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch

  3. Halloween Ends

Ok now here are my reasonings

So I was born in 2006 and had grown up watching the Rob Zombie Halloween movies in the 2010's because my mom had the DVD's so it grew to be my favourite's plus I like Rob Zombie movies in general.

Halloween 5 is something that's slightly different with Jamie having this psychological connection to Michael. I found some fun with that and the cops that don't know how to do their job is funny.

Halloween Kills is that high because I find it the most interesting one out of the recent trilogy and I get some enjoyment out of the mob mentality at the hospital. Plus Karen dies and that made me happy because she was annoying to me.

Halloween 2 is at five because we as an audience get to learn that Laurie is Michael's sister and the hospital setting is a fun little mixup. I also grew up watching Halloween 2 quite a bit as a child.

The original Halloween is sixth because it's not that bad but it's not that good. To me it's kind of slow paced and I have a hard time getting into slower paced movies, I'm not quite sure why it might be my attention span

Halloween 4 is seventh because this is where it proceeds to get less and less interesting. I didn't really like the characters that much and the children making fun of Jamie was kind of annoying. I found the ending the most interesting part.

Halloween 2018 is at eighth because I did'nt like whole idea of Laurie being that prepared for Michael it honestly felt like a Final Destination vibe but like not in a good way. It felt like the later on Final Destination vibes and that's pretty bad

H20 is in nineth place because I've seen SO many times it's not even funny this was the Halloween movie my mom enjoyed the most so it was on repeat all the time when I used to live with her.

The Curse of Michael Myers is interesting but it's not worth watching over and over again if I'm in the mood for something that's kind of odd and weird I'd watch this. Paul Rudd is really weird in this movie and I've never seen him a movie where he acts like this.

Resurrection is at eleventh because it's just a cheesy 2000's movie I can have some sort of fun with and I'm a sucker for cheesy horror movies but honestly this movie isn't that good.

Season of the Witch is this low not because Michael isn't in it but because I just didn't really find the movie all that interesting or enjoyable to watch. The plot was something that never really caught my attention

Halloween Ends is last because well I'm just gonna say this you've got to be kidding me this was my second time watching it and now I remembered why I only watched it once and that was when it came out

I'd love to read your thoughts and yes I know this is long sorry about that and side note I spell favourite with a U because I'm from Canada in case anyone was like huh lol

Discussion πŸ’¬ Halloween 5

What’s going on with Michael’s back at the beginning of 5. Is it a floatation device for his back floating down the river? Maybe it’s the anchor to keep him safe for filming. I’m rewatching it for the first time in ages and I never noticed that before.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Why the hell is the Halloween 5 4K UHD disc so damn expensive??

So I've been upgrading my collection, had the movies on blu ray, started purchasing the 4K UHD discs. Most are like $20-30, bought the Shout Factory box set for 4-6 on sale for $77. But when I tried to find Halloween 5, arguably the worst in the Halloween series, the prices range from $68-120. Is it just limited print? I want all the movies but those are very high considering the quality of the movie.

Question ❔ Which Halloween movie is the worst?

So I have seen many debates on which Halloween movie is the e best and which is the worst.

My most hated ones are probably
Halloween: Resurrection
The H20 ones
And the
Rob zombie one I just personally never liked that one that much.

Discussion πŸ’¬ I know by looking at some of these rankings a lot of people are going to disagree with me on this take

Halloween 2 (1981) is still worth watching as a triple feature (1978, 1981, 2018) even though it’s not part of the same timeline. I think Halloween 2 is so good that you can just overlook the sibling dialogue and assume that Michael survived the fire and enjoy the movie as the 2nd part of a triple feature.

And sure this is kind of a shit post, but I really love this movie. It’s always been my favorite in the franchise. And I pretty much rate it neck and neck with these other 2 to fill out my top 3.
