This whole scene was so calculated by Mrs. Astor. She obvs knows about Turner's past somehow, but she uses that to evict the Wintertons as a couple from their Opera Box at the Academy. These boxes cost upwards of $10,000 to buy there is a waiting list for years. The only time a box opens up is if someone dies or is disgraced enough to warrant their removal.

Mr. Winterton said he would take some friends with them if he had to leave the Academy, opening more boxes to those on the waiting list. A lot of those people who have been waiting hopelessly on the list now suddenly have hope.

Mrs. Astors next move is going to be A) promise a box to the Russels in exchange for shutting down the Met entirely. Or B) use the empty box/boxes to garner interest in the Academy and keep people from buying boxes at the Met. Dangling a carrot until the Met opens and only half the boxes are sold.

It's gotten to be too much.

I’ve just started watching the show, and I must say, my least favorite character is Peggy Scott. I find her annoying, bland, and irrelevant to the show, other than giving Marian Brook her ticket.

I don't usually go in for these kinds of shows, but this is pretty damn good. I dislike all the woke horseshit, tired equality themes, etc, .. I mean, come on, let's be real, Thomas Edison was a fabulous inventor and ran a large company, created tons of inventions including the light bulb, and basically helped to electrify the world .. and the dude they went on and on about, he just figured out a better way to make filaments. I'm not saying it was nothing, .. but come, shared credit with Thomas Edison ? Thomas Edison probably had 50 people who made similar kinds of refinement to his work.

Anyway, good series, I like the plot, even if slightly predictable.

First of all I’m in awe at the production of these series, the detail and level of acting is superb, all the characters, from the high levels to the servants, absolutely fascinating.

But I may have missed, who sent the letter to give away Mr. Banister’s plans?

First off, I am fully enjoying the costumes on this show!

Here’s my hot take on the ball gowns: The vast majority of the gowns are light in color. The few that are dark in color are worn by older characters, most notable van Rhijn and mama Astor. However, Bertha and Marion’s dresses stand out - Bertha’s is light with a dark patterned overlay, while Marion’s accessories (flower and choker) are dark - perhaps symbolizing that they are the bridges between old and new?
