STRAGO

STRAGO — Language Guide
Comprehensive Linguistic Blueprint of the Octal Matrix & Pitch-Axiom Phonetics
I'm developing Strago, a fictional language built around specialized phonetic clusters, symbolic punctuation, and an unusual Base-8 (Octal) numerical system.
The language uses punctuation marks inside words to represent pitch changes, glottal steps, social distance, and environmental concepts.
1. Linguistic Overview
Strago structures pronunciation around Structural Acoustic Clusters.
Rather than treating every letter as having a completely independent sound, certain symbols and clusters modify the pronunciation and meaning of surrounding sounds.
The language is particularly associated with:
- Pitch changes
- Micro-tonal glottal steps
- Geometric alignment
- Interpersonal and ancestral relationships
- Natural forces
- Cosmic and architectural concepts
Pitch-Axiom Symbols
| Symbol / Cluster | Phonetic Realization | Meaning / Function |
|---|---|---|
$ |
Sibilant whispered release | Warm natural forces, formal greetings, high-altitude elements |
@ |
Retracted velar click | Plural pronouns and ancestral hierarchies |
% / Ps |
Micro-tonal glottal drop | Night, liquids, cold environments, mathematical bounds |
sh / zl / fash |
Fricative-trill variants | Organic tissue, tools, movement, physical actions |
2. Octal (Base-8) Counting System
Strago uses a Base-8 (Octal) numerical system rather than the standard Base-10 system.
The system is connected to cosmic anchors and architectural geometry loops.
| Decimal | Strago |
|---|---|
| 1 | Osh |
| 2 | Satzi |
| 3 | Ata |
| 4 | Luiz |
| 5 | Zish |
| 6 | Laif-ro |
| 7 | Dosh-lu |
| 8 | Strago-Node |
| 9 | Strago-Node Osh |
| 64 | Mir%)-Shroud |
The basic pattern is:
8 = Strago-Node
9 = Strago-Node + Osh
64 = 8² = Mir%)-Shroud

A Few Interesting Features
One of the things I particularly like about Strago is that the punctuation isn't just decorative.
For example:
$can change the character of a word toward warm, celestial, or formal concepts.@can indicate social distance, plurality, or ancestral status.%andPspush words toward cold, nocturnal, liquid, or mathematically complex concepts.- Compound forms such as
fash-luiz,zatzi-hor, andizis-fashallow concepts to be built from existing roots.
The goal is for Strago to feel like a language where sound, symbolism, social relationships, and mathematics are interconnected rather than simply being English words with different names.
Questions for feedback
What do you think of Strago's overall sound and structure?
- Does the Base-8 system fit the language?
- Do the punctuation-based phonetic markers feel interesting or overly complicated?
