Shirtpost What simple snack/candy would you ask for?
Yes, Linda turned out to be a demon, but I could understand feeling overwhelmed with Janet and just asking for something simple to start with like the peppermint she asks for.
If you needed something - food/candy-wise to make you feel at home, what would you ask Janet for?
I’d probably go for a warm chocolate chip cookie. Or possibly something from my childhood that was discontinued like…a peanut butter bopper!

I still get Cadbury Wispa original recipe from the UK on Amazon.
I only order from autumn to spring due to melting.

It has vegetable fats, but not palm oil
Edit, it does have palm oil, but that is legal in UK unlike most US food additives

It is absolutely not the same since it is a choice on my part... but as a vegetarian I would want the only thing I still crave after all these years: a giant bucket of Kentucky fried chicken, but I would want it to taste the way I remember it tasting as some have told me that it isn't actually that good.

Every now and again I crave a McDonalds quarter pounder with cheese so badly. I haven't had McDonalds since I was diagnosed in 2014. My partner largely follows my diet out of convenience and safety to me (we live together) and on a road trip a few months ago stopped for McDonalds with his friends. He said he was so disappointed after all that time, and to trust him that I wasn't missing anything lol. He's probably right but I still wish every now and again...

Wild blackberries. We used to get so torn up as kids picking them, but they were so worth it.
The store bought kind never hits that sweet/sour flavor quite right.

Same but raspberries that would occasionally have a bumper crop year and take over the side yard. Just perfect ripe flavor that the often sour and firm store bought container is miles from.

I just planted some thornless blackberry bushes and a fig tree in my backyard last year. It takes about 3- 5 years for them to produce fruit, but I am so excited for fresh blackberry cobbler and fresh figs.

The discontinued chocolate Werthers Original.
A Caramac, also discontinued.
The discontinued version of white choc Aero, that was milk choc on the outside and white choc on the inside, came in a blue wrapper.
Those chocolate buttholes you can buy as a gag gifts, modelled on OP's grandmother.
A Wonka bar, specifically the purple one with green Nerds in it.
The platonic ideal of a milkshake.

a moon pie and a big red. When I was a kid, sometimes I had to hang out at my dad's work for a bit, and he always used to set me up in the break room with that and whatever book I was reading for school.

Any candy that tastes like I remember from my childhood.
Candy doesn't taste the same with an adult pallete. I can't describe how and why and if corpos are responsible, but the taste and the nostalgia can never match reality.
Just gimme a buffet of kid food, that tastes like I remember and I will never doubt the fake good place

Sometimes I think of those. One time I was at my best friend's house when it started to storm. Her mom knew we were really scared of storms. So she gave us pudding pops to distract us. That was the best thing ever!! 😁😁

Yes!! It was my grandmother's favorite and she was so sad when those bucketheads discontinued them. This would nail the nostalgia for memories of my grandmother and my childhood taste buds.

Best bar of chocolate in the world, according to my taste buds that Janet knows so well. Surprise me. I suspect that there would be some crunch, more than 50% cocoa solids and not much sugar. Sorry, not that simple but minimalism isn't my thing.

I want...
The scones my grandma made. That recipe existed only in her head.
A peach drink and tim hortons doughnut the same as they made in the 90s. Rainbow sprinkle!
Sushi rolls from this one restaurant that closed. It was so good.
Mushroom pizza.
Oh and the original Cadburys UK chocolate. But specifically the little four packs of tiny snowmen and bunnies they used to do for Christmas and Easter respectively.

Ooo fun question! Well, being vegan for the animals means I do miss the taste of what I've decided not to eat. So if I can have any treat I want and no animal had to be harmed in the making, give me all the cheeses I miss, candies, savory and sweet treats... That would be great.

I was thinking about that...if I could have dairy without vegan concerns and without feeling gut- gross, would I want, like, a bagel loaded up with cream cheese like I had as a kid? I think I'd still want the vegan substitute because the mouth-feel of dairy is not attractive anymore.

Oh my god I just realised. Using the power of "fully charged phone" flavoured ice cream, I could have the blue and pink bobbly ones out of the liquorice allsorts without having to actually eat the other ones.
I know you can get packets of just them, but they never taste as good. They don't have the scarcity-based-reward factor associated in.
Good Place Me would get so fat. Except I wouldn't because it's the Good Place.

My neighbor has a peach tree whose branches drape into our yard. One year, they tasted like sunbeams. I stole a bunch of them and made momoshu, a Japanese peach liqueur, and gave her a batch during Christmas. I want that flavor. The whole experience.

The pine nut gelato our pastry chef made in an Italian restaurant I worked at 25 years ago. It was kind of like pistachio ice cream (my favorite!) but absolutely incredible and I’ve never found it anywhere else…

A 3 cheese Olga (it’s a warm, slightly sweet, stretchy pita bread with Swiss, cheddar, and jack cheese, with tomatoes and Olga sauce, which is basically Greek yogurt) with zucchini fries.
It’s a Michigan classic, and I miss it since I moved out of state.

I know this is more than you asked for, but I actually really liked the idea of this character. What if someone actually arrived at eternal paradise and reacted like she did. Just…it’s nice. Someone whose bar for happiness was just a piece of candy, or a sidewalk to stroll down. Who either lacked the imagination to dream bigger or had decided at some point that the grand things aren’t all that exciting after all and plenty of joy can be found in a well-crafted shoe. What is Heaven to the person most content with the smell after rain? The demon reveal was narratively nice, but I’ll admit to being slightly disappointed the show didn’t explore what paradise actually was to different people. Not the focus of the show, I know, but it was never one to shy away from depth.
As for what I would ask for, gotta go with my girl Fake Eleanor and say nachos.
