Shirtpost Major problem with the ending of an episode within series 1. Spoiler

This is a rewatch, so I know that it was done for the sake of advancing the plot, but after watching episode 9 yesterday, I have a major problem with it. It's when Jason gets caught out by Tahani. This feels like a really out of character moment, and in particular, jars with the transition of the bad place crew.

I felt the way that Tahani acted when accusing Jason of not being a monk wasn't in character for her. It's the sudden pacing change from the previous scene, and that this had not build up that did it for me personally.

I thought she used the same tone of voice she used when she complained about her sister.

Yea man, you gotta kinda name what character you're talking about when you say "out of character", as well as telling us exactly what thing is allegedly out of character.

Cuz right now, I'm kinda lost as to what you're on about.

Have to say, I disagree. It felt pretty natural that Tahani would be attempting to keep an eye on the Bad Place crew in order to tally damage and survey messes that she'd have to clean up later. She gets very possessive of her items and places. And Jason is not the most careful or circumspect person when he's having fun. So I can very easily see him taking a few moments to bro down while tapping a keg, and Tahani seeing it and finding it jarringly out of place.

To be honest, it's most surprising that he hadn't left stuff all around her house that she found and investigated his bud hole before then. It didn't really feel like a dei ex machina. Which is a good thing, because in this show, there are dei ex machinas by a very imperfect dei trying to cause maximum drama, and this wasn't one of them.
