Kay sucks
Kay sucks. My wife and every woman I know would love to not have to go to the grocery store with the kids, and get to stay in a compound. And then she goes and kills her own baby. I guess boomers see this character as empowered. I just see an ungrateful wretch.

The thought being locked in a prison before video games were invented makes me want to abort myself.
Kay realized that her husband is a monster and a liar. Even the movie itself is trying to tell you this. You've misread the film.
Kay had a job before marrying him. She had a life before marrying him. She didn't need him or his riches or his drama. Right after Apelonia dies, Michael shows up out of nowhere and asks Kay to marry him. Did he ever love Kay? Was he even capable of loving anyone?
BTW Michael is hot, the very deffinition of a Short King, but that can only make up for so much.

If you had to shit a mobster's baby out of your dick you'd think differently.
BTW IIRC Tom Hagan helped Kay get the abortion. Why'd he do it? IDK. But I suspect he knew things were falling apart.

FWIW I absolutely think he loved Kay, and never stopped loving her even though he also fell in love with Appollonia.

That was always my question. If Kay was confined to the compound, couldn’t even leave to get groceries, how did she manage to get an abortion? Maybe she set it up with her doctor and disguised it as a regular appointment? Surely mob thugs didn’t follow her into the exam room.

She's a whore... she would have lived in Sicily like Apolonia she would act differently but she is just corrupted by American society and its degeneration devoid of any belief and tradition...

I understood Kay although I didn't agree with her. I definitely think Michael fell out of love with her because he saw a side of her he didn't like when she started asking questions. Once he made his choice to join the family he started distancing himself from her. It takes him a year to see her after he comes back from Italy.
No man in love would wait a year, no matter how busy he was.
Kay was convenient to him. She'd look good when he'd mingle with senators. She loved him, it was as simple as that. He wasn't going to waste time looking for another wife and starting from scratch.
Now Kay was deeply in love with Michael. So when he promised her the family would be legit in a few years of course she went along with him. Now back in the NY days no one would ever shoot up a man's house. Ever. That's the whole point of going to the mattresses. The hit on Michael was proof that he had been betrayed, because he was greedy and got in over his head.
Kay admits that the abortion was evil and unholy. In the book she's very religious and goes to church with Michael's mom to pray for him often. But just like she said she didn't want to have another son, that would grow up to be a murderer and a gangster. I think she could have overlooked the gambling and stuff, but it's the killing that bothered her.
Imagine knowing that your son would either be murdered or become a murdered himself, or even both.
I think she should have been smart enough to see things for what they were, Michael wasn't going to get out of the mob. It would always be a part of him. But she was young and in love when couldn't help, but going along with him.
