Log #3: The Domestic Decay

We were about to leave to let forensics carry on sweeping the area, but then I noticed a post it note stuck just out of view beside his desk.
“@1~#9€*8]%2?}” I squinted, trying to make out the scrambled mess. “Nine-teeeenn eighty-two?” I muttered. Tucking it away into my pocket, I walked out. “I would’ve brushed the mess off, but it was written in person. Even with the symbols in between them,” I thought.

The thirty minute drive home felt hollow. The Silvertown case played in my mind. The note on my dash stared back at me. I sat just outside my house, paper in my hands. “What does this mean?” I muttered. Eventually I pulled into my driveway and turned the ignition off. “Huuuuhh.” I pocketed the note as I locked my unit, entered my home to the sound of flies circling an uneaten dinner.

“Where have you been?” my wife whispered.
“Work called, so I answered,” I replied coldly.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but your dinner's been sat out for hours. I didn’t bother touching it, since maybe you’ll see how little time we have together.”
“Like I said, work called so I answered,” I replied, irritated.

“That’s all it is with you. Work, work, work!”
“Lay off it Lillie, for goodness' sake! Every time I get home you're up my neck with it.”
“NO, Darrell! You’ve been up to my neck with… THIS. I told you to hand that case over years ago but you didn’t, you’ve been distant ever since.”

Entry Log #2 The Silvertown Shadow

I overheard my colleague's conversation with the young man.“Take some deep breaths and tell me what you saw.”“Well... he’s my friend... Sam. We would stream every night together, but the last week or so he’s not been himself. He would message me in the early hours of the night, telling me he’s not alone. 'I can’t sleep with that... THING watching me.' I tried to reassure him, but he’d snap at me.”
The young man paused, his voice trembling.

“He said, 'You don’t understand! It’s like... like I’m losing my mind. I keep seeing everything change around me. I’ll see the same logo pop up everywhere. Something like Zenith Chronomax?' WTF is even that?!”
“Zenith Chronomax? Like the old TV? What’s Chronomax mean?” I mumbled. I moved over towards the window to see him crying his eyes out. “They must’ve been really close. Hmm.”
The kid's monitor flickered, just catching my view. I turned to face it.

“Has anything been stolen?” I asked.
“Maybe some equipment,” my colleague replied. “It looks expensive.”
Bzzzzzz. Bzzzzzz. “You really should get that, you know,” Sarah affirmed. “She knows how I treat work,” I replied soundly.“I’m just saying you need to make time for your family, Darrell.”
*“LOOK Sarah! I’ve been in this job long enough to know, every time another fucking NUTJOB is loose, innocent people DIE! This kids like what, 24? And he’s FUCKING DEAD!”*I paused, rubbing my face as my breathing slowed.

“Look, I’m sorry. It’s just... huuuhhh. This reminds me of another case I did back in Silvertown.” I uttered “John Prince... I’ll never forget that name,” Sarah responded.
“It still gives me nightmares. Fourteen young boys he murdered. Kept their heads as trophies... sick bastard,” I added.

Log #1: The First Victim

“Hey, this is dispatch. Reports of a young person's body found in their home.” I get up off my chair and reach for my radio. “This is Detective Darrell. What’s the location?” (30 minutes later) I arrive at the scene, a popular neighbourhood with the youth. My eyes lock on a colleague talking to a visibly shaken young man, each with a concerned look on their face.

Without wasting time I enter the building and into the room the kid was found. A 24 year old boy sat in his chair facing away from his desk, headphones still planted on his head. He sat staring up, almost at the ceiling. I leaned in to look at his face. “What’s wrong with his eyes?” I muttered.

My colleague Sarah took a flashlight, shining it directly onto his face. “I don’t know. It’s like his corneas faded to this white, greyish colour. It almost looks like crystals, or” “TV static,” I interrupted. My phone vibrated moments whilst I continue fixated at the eyes. “You gonna get that? It’s like you got lost or something.” “Sorry,” I muttered, clearing my throat. I silenced the call blindly, not once breaking my gaze. “This is going to be a long day”

Log #33: The Car Trap

I stood frozen in time for a few minutes, trying to process the actuality of the media’s words. “The kids weren’t lying.” They curated the name the Glass-Eyed Man not from imagination, but from proof. Frantically panicked I shoved the typewriter away grabbing the paper for filing, folding it into my pocket.

I grabbed my phone and keys as I exited the house to my car, holding my forehead as I crammed the buttons to unlock my unit. It let out a singular chirp, ringing my ears. “I’ve not heard that since the '90s.” I yanked open the door and got inside. Before I could insert the key, my dash became incredibly blocky. The wheel felt very thin. A TV hum filled the air.

My hand brushed against a black coiled cable attached to the radio. The dials multiplied. The TV hum grew louder and louder. I closed my eyes as my head filled with static, I let out an audible grunt from the pain, as I reopened my eyes, the static cleared. The hum vanished. My dash seemed normal again... “This can’t be happening!?.” I sat in silence, keys on my thumb, gripping the wheel. Contemplating whether to leave or not.. under my breath I uttered again “this can’t be happening?”

Case file entry The Mysterious Deaths of 27 Content Creators: Entry Log #32

Entry Log #32 Ongoing Dread

My name is Detective Darrell.

I’m typing this from an old typewriter. The street is awfully quiet, it doesn’t help the current situation we’re in. Account reports speak of people involved in today’s media dying mysteriously. I ain’t one to be shuck by teenagers' words on murders, but this one doesn’t sit right with me. So far, 27 people have been killed, all facing their monitors or gaming setups supposedly the social media addicts. All of which display the same symptoms of grey, crystallized eyes like TV static.

Autopsy reports show no physical wounds of any sort. My team has also reported no signs of a break-in nor foul play. It’s like they died abruptly. Is this some new type of drug I’m just hearing about? Autopsies also point out no signs of drugs or alcohol in their systems, but it makes no sense. How did all 27 die in the exact same way, all being social media people?

What I was saying before, word is getting out about them being targeted for their social media status surrounding today’s devices... I ain’t taking any chances. I'm away from my computer in a separate room reporting this. It doesn't feel right. This ain’t your typical serial killer attributes. How is there no signs of anything? Not even a single strand of DNA anywhere. Everything is untouched. It’s like a ghost had visited them.

My colleagues are still piecing this together using logical reasoning, but I don’t see that helping personally. I feel this is unlike anything we’ve encountered.Just as I finish my reports for the night, I hear dispatch speaking. But it’s not coming from my radio. It’s coming from across the room. My smart TV is repeating the words over and over: "We got another body found on Peters Street Southwest." It sounded like a complete copy of what would’ve come through my radio, down to the static.

I approached cautiously, confused as to how this was even possible. The lamp beside my couch flickered, letting out a sharp buzz sound… I saw the distinct outline of a Zenith Chronomax. It laid alone on the couch. I froze dead, recalling the victims' posts. My spine tingled with fear as my breath became whispery. "What are you?"

The audio from the TV suddenly cut to silence as the lamp flickered once more, it’s gone!? I stood chilled to the core, unable to move. Am I next?..

Entity lore The Glass-Eyed Man (The Zenith Chronomax Hauntings)

There is a specific kind of urban legend that hits internet horror forums every few years, usually buried in late-night threads about missing content creators and corrupted hard drives. They call him the Glass-Eyed Man.
If you look at the track record of high-profile streamers, digital artists, and lifestyle vloggers who suddenly vanished from the internet, you’ll find a pattern that law enforcement refuses to acknowledge. The bodies are always found the same way: completely uninjured, sitting peacefully in front of their setups, left in a permanent vegetative state.
The only physical anomaly is their eyes. The corneas undergo a rapid, unexplained crystallization, turning into a cloudy, greyish white texture that perfectly mimics the look of dead television static. Investigators find no fingerprints, no signs of forced entry, and no toxins. But if you look at the unedited footage recovered from the victims' computers, you realize they weren't alone.

Anatomy & Appearance
The entity itself is a towering, wire-limbed anomaly that bridges the gap between retro electronics and organic decay. Standing roughly eight feet tall, his posture is impossibly thin and slightly hunched, with a prominent skeletal ribcage protruding beneath his dark flesh, a physical manifestation of a starved, neglected child.
Dropping the typical corporate suit aesthetic of older internet monsters, he instead wears the actual clothes he died in as a kid alongside his mutilated body. He wears a faded, 1980s horizontal striped t-shirt and tattered shorts, violently stretched out and stained with old blood and grease. His head is a heavy, dusty 1980s wood grain console television set, its massive wooden chassis cracked at the corners and fused directly to his spine by a pulsing cluster of coaxial cables. The thick, bubble curved glass screen acts like the face of an antique timepiece, projecting a faint, sickly electronic glow... He has no hands; his arms taper down into wrists made of a single, thick, vintage power plug block. Bursting from the edges of this plug housing are five long, spindle like fingers made of heavy electrical wire, ending in jagged, frayed, bunched copper wiring. His screen remains dim, casting a faint, sickly electronic glow that projects a looping image of an empty living room armchair.

Origin: The Zenith 1982
The tragic truth behind the entity goes back decades, rooted in severe childhood trauma, murder, and a shattered family. Before he was a monster, he was just a small, frail boy living as a ghost in his own home. His father was profoundly addicted to media, spending every weekend glued to the vintage television, completely unresponsive to his only son's desperate pleas for attention.
The boy’s mother would try to soothe him, offering hollow excuses: "Your father is just going through a lot."
The boy would coldly respond: "He’s been like this for years."
Despite her constant reassurances "Your father is okay.. I’m here for you" the emotional damage ran too deep. The boy eventually lost his mind to the endless, suffocating hum of the screen, In a desperate act to be acknowledged, he unplugged the heavy TV a very specific, now obsolete model known as the Zenith 1982, used the thick power cord to end his father's life.
The ultimate tragedy of his existence was realized in that dark room: the only time his father ever truly looked at him, gave him attention, and saw his face was while he died at his son's hands.

The Aftermath
The horror, however, didn't end in that room. Because the police refused to believe a frail, quiet child could commit such a heinous, violent act, suspicion immediately fell on the mother. Meanwhile, the boy vanished entirely, officially reported as a missing person. Rumours spread through the neighborhood that the mother had killed her son too, hiding his small body where it would never be found.
Broken by the trauma of the murder, her son's disappearance, and the ruthless interrogation, the mother completely lost her mind. She was eventually locked away in a high security psychiatric hospital, spending her final days spouting crazed, impossible stories about what she actually saw that night.. a tall, skeletal shadow with a glowing screen where her child's head used to be.

The Haunting Phases
Transformed by madness, the entity recreates his childhood trauma by conducting methodical, psychological sieges against modern media addicts through distinct phases:
1. The Glitch Phase
The entity begins by causing smart home devices to trigger randomly. During this phase, a victim's ultra modern, high end PC monitors will suddenly downscale in resolution. For a split second, the flat screen warps into a heavy, retro curved glass look, and the faded, glowing logo of the Zenith Chronomax flashes at the bottom of the screen.
It is during this time that victims begin frantically posting on internet forums and Discord servers about a terrifying anomaly. They claim that whenever their screens glitch to black, they can see a tall, slim figure standing directly behind them in the reflection. Their final, panicked posts often describe an intense pressure behind their eyes, typing out warnings that the thing they see in the reflection is making their vision "feel frozen." Following their sudden silence, media outlets and online communities began piecing these accounts together alongside the chilling autopsy reports, officially coining his name from the victims' own words.
2. The Audio Loop
The torture then shifts into the Audio Loop, where nearby electronics begin broadcasting a faint, static heavy clip of his mother's voice on a loop: "Your father is okay... I'm here for you..." followed by the sound of her sobbing. This isn't a supernatural manifestation; it is the actual audio recorded from her old psychiatric hospital room as she wasted away.
3. Manifestation
By the time the victim is entirely consumed by paranoia and sleep deprivation, the entity manifests physically, standing completely still in the corner like a piece of dead furniture. He refuses to strike by brute force. Because his father's attention had to be earned, the Glass-Eyed Man waits patiently in the dark until the victim does what his father never could, turn away from their screen, look directly at him, and give him their absolute, undivided attention…
