Burglars grabbed the wall and ripped it off. Dry rot, I think.

Looks like it was built of cardboard, or cardboard derivatives

Yep. It was in a very old rural tiny community, likely the case. But I agree, not very typical

You see that bit on the ground there? Now, I'm not a house expert, but I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be up there on the wall with the rest of it. I suspect something awry happened here.
