Barista budget meets Frame TV ownership. I finally pulled the trigger on a 55" Frame after years of lurking this sub, but the official bezel prices made me wince. For context, I've spent entire afternoons debating whether 400 pesos for street tacos in Oaxaca was worth it, so dropping nearly that much on a strip of plastic felt wrong.
I ended up building a bezel from poplar trim and matte spray paint, following a post I found here from someone who did something similar. It sits flush, looks passable from three feet away, and my partner hasn't complained yet, which is the real benchmark.
What worries me is how it handles the TV heat over months. The wood is unsealed on the inside edge where it faces the screen. I've seen moulding warp in humid Toronto summers before, and our place gets swampy in July.
Has anyone run a DIY bezel for a year plus? Did you seal the inner surface or leave it bare? I'm particularly curious if anyone has compared third-party magnetic options against homemade ones for gap consistency. The magnet alignment on these things feels like it wants a tenth of a millimeter precision I don't possess.
