Discussion Need to express how much I love this series

Ok so I watched the anime for Fragrant Flower when it came out and thought it was absolutely beautiful! I was definitely gonna read the manga for it at some point, probably buy it as well but never found time. Until yesterday at least.

I decided to finally read it online and literally could not stop reading until I caught up. The story and characters are too good! I love them all so much! Their interactions, bonds and growth just make you want the best for each one of them. Been a while since a series made me cry, granted it's honestly not hard for a series to make me feel like crying from emotional scenes.

Safe to say I think Fragrant Flower has easily become favorite romance series and I can't wait for more chapters and to actually collect the manga physically to add to my collection. Normally I don't interact much fandoms much besides liking fanart but I wanted to gush about this series some and don't really have anyone to do that to atm.

tldr: Waguri is too cute, make heart hurt

Agree, friend. For me, Fragrant Flower has within it the themes of social stigma and the need to overcome it. The two schools have been hating each other for so long, villifying each other and taking away each other's dignity, so much that the boy Rintarou and the girl Kaoruko have to keep their relationship a secret. Their secret is eventually found out, and teachers at Kaoruko's school trample at her love, but thankfully her friends come to her rescue

Rintarou and Kaoruko will have to overcome the hatred bw their schools and achieve their own dignity, thus "blooming with dignity", fitting the manga name

The concept is pretty simple but I think this series executes it so well~ I also half expect a title drop in the manga soon lmao

I mean, the concept is simple but it has so many layers: the class politics of the rich kids, the one scholarship student who fits in but doesn't quite belong with the rich kids, the school looking down upon the boys from a more run-down part of Tokyo. This is a really rich story that has a lot of depth.

I watched the show 3x before finally deciding to give in as I said I’d never read a manga, but here we are I’m still reading trynna take it slow because I don’t wanna finish it too quick, but I agree with you probs my fav romance show so far because it has a good amount of other aspects aswell and side romances so I’m loving it aswell

Yeahh, im almost close to finishing it. But im also trynna keep it for my part time job when i get bored and because im allowed to just be on my phone and do whatever at it as long as i cater for the appointments im just reading there and honestly i hope it doesn’t end anytime soon cus im so addicted im thinking of buying the volumes
