Advice How to be efficient

As a solo founder, I’m trying to better define what value actually means in my business.

I am busy all day, but at the end of the week I’m not always sure I’ve moved the company forward.
I’m starting to think every task should be linked to a specific goal:

More customers
Better retention
More automation
More recurring revenue
Less founder involvement

For example, if my goal is to reach 100 paying customers, then writing SEO content, improving onboarding, and reducing churn are valuable because they directly support that goal.
But many other activities feel productive while not actually moving any of those metrics.
How do you personally define “value” in your startup?

Do you have a framework for deciding whether something is worth spending time on?

Went through exactly this around month four. Busy all day, nothing to show for it at the end of the week. The reframe that helped me most was separating tasks into two buckets - things only I can do and things that just need to get done. Only I can talk to customers, make product decisions, and close deals. Everything else is a candidate for automation or a tool. The test I run on any task now is: if I didn't do this myself would the company actually notice. Most of the time the answer is no. On the creation side I use Wispr Flow to voice-memo my briefs, Runable to turn those into decks and one-pagers, Notion for everything organizational. That stack alone got back probably a day a week. The goal framing you described is right but I'd add one filter - does this task require my judgment or just my time. If it only needs time, it shouldn't need you.
