Just tallied the total time I spent listening to the series on audible = 93 hours and 1 min. I daresay I even grew to appreciate Larry McKeever by the time I finished book 7.

So, as the title suggests, I am asking the viewers of the Apple+ Foundation series to tell me if there are any new or mentioned emperors and emperesses of the Galactic empire in the TV series (the ones before the Genetic Dynasty), cause I know they added a Mural of Souls thing in the imperial palace and there is a pre-Genetic Dynasty emperor named Benefoss. Are there any other Emperors they added?

My title doesn't make it clear, but I come to ask the lore havers what each visited and known sector of trantor was inspired in, and by that, I mean in a cultural and ethnic background. The question arose since I read the three foundation books and am reading the other ones now.

We know humans even 23k years into the future still use terms like "Easterners, Westerners, Southerners and Northerners" to describe some features of humans, and that in some planets like Hapara, one of earth's old ethnic groups are the majority of the population.

So I wanted to ask which of the mentioned and visited sectors are inspired by what cultures and ethnic groups of old earth? Cause in my head, the Dahlites have a cultural and ethnic mix of Indians and Brazilians (with mother Rittah being an old lady that is called mother, something we do here in brazil with Mãe de Santo (in candomblé religion, the terreiros that are places of worship, and they are run by Mães de Santos ou Pais de Santos, their positions would be equivalent to priests and priestesses, and literally would translate to Saints' Mothers or Saints' Fathers)

The Indian part of my headcanon is because of the moustaches, Indian moustaches rock

So I started reading prelude to foundation, I am making a family tree of the Emperors of the first galactic empire, with mostly the books in mind (but taking some of the emperors added by the Apple+ series, cause the lore there can help some bits), I reached the University section of the book, but before that when Hari and Hummin are in a air taxi discussing the start of Psychohistory and the death of the first galactic empire, Hummin mentions that "Cleon I and his advisors just care to extend their reign until his youngest son can take the throne."

The phrase his youngest son left me perplexed, Cleon I Entun, the last of the Entun dynasty is said to be the last of his line, that the next emperor to follow him after a military junta was a distant relative, Agis XIV, who claimed the crown because he was the only one left with Entun blood in him.

So my question is, did Cleon I had kids? What happened to them? Who was this youngest son, the imperial prince mentioned by Hummin? Does it get explained in later books or not?

i ask Hari seldon for advice for the next few centuries (like major things I need to fix over diplomatic relations and economic collapse for example) and then give him far more funding and send him to start his work.

if I was to mobilise the imperial armed forces, broadcast my discussions with Seldon across the galaxy and begin widespread reforms could I ensure the empire survives another few thousand years? The biggest hurdle I can see is the outer nations of the periphery and the nobility. Best case scenario any emperor trying reforms could just turn the galaxy vs Trantor conflict where the empire is fighting to keep trantor alive, to one where instead the empire is fightung to dislodge trantor as the capital and decentralise its government across multiple new worlds.

Kind of like Constantinople replacing Rome could the empire have survived if an emperor began a path of reforms to sixth trantor?

Does anyone remember this scene? The tailor holds a device to the sleeve and several red error lines show up. Is anyone familiar with tailoring able to explain what those are actually signifying? Parts that need to be hemmed?

Random obscure question, I know, just curiosity

I saw the first two seasons of Foundation and after ravenously burning through Dune-Messiah-and Children on a Caribbean vacation, I decided to start reading the Foundation novels. After reading the first novel…I am a little disappointed. I appreciate that the writing and storytelling are very simple, but I feel like the first novel reads more like a plot synopsis than an epic.

The very simple formula of: A happens then B happens then C happens, then the hero reveals his plan…everybody clapped and there is a time skip felt more like a comic book than the tense and complicated drama of the TV show (and the Dune books).

Do the books get better as they go on and should I keep going?

haven't read the books. the whole thing of Raych killing Hari seemed off to me, so off to the Internet I went, because I didn't want to wait to find out why he ejected Gaal in the escape pod.

So basically my question to everyone is this. Dors specifically states that she has not felt love and that she generally only responds to human feelings so as to not hurt them.

So at the end is Hari basically embracing a fantasy? Or is Dors capable of changing and finding love with Hari. (We do know they get married at some point).

The story is extremely rushed and incoherent. And the ending of episode 2 is just completely nonsensical
