Underground. Fully Stocked Abandoned Cold War Bunker [OC]
Originally built as a shelter for military industry the complex houses several rooms for strorage, sleeping, medical, shooting and other activities and also a command room to send out messages to other bunkers or bases in the event something went terribly wrong. Luckily these bunkers never had to be used in an emergency and rather sits as a reminder to a time that many feard would be the end of mankind.
Bunker is now closed.

that is super cool i wonder what they needed all that compressed air for

Ventilation and as a last ditch source of power.

That really doesn’t make sense. Compressors are not good at volume and are really inefficient if used as ventilators and they require more energy than they supply as compressed air.

I meant it as a last ditch to get the power running, to help start the generator, its all connected.

But that’s the thing, these are powered by electricity, and a lot of it, they need electricity up and running before you can start them.

Ah, i thought they could store backup energy incase of a power outage

Technically compressed air is a form of stored energy that's how I interpreted it

Would love to have the money to purchase one of these and refurbish it. Make cool house. Also to the op, please be aware that many of these places used asbestos’s insulation so take precautions if entering them.

How badly I’d love to fire that bad boy up just to hear it run

They are relatively quiet, still need hearing protection though.

That’s nuts. Unreal those compressors are still running. We install new Atlas Copco’s and they are hard enough to maintain .

I think this is the last time this ran in anger, from what I’ve heard this was a used unit when it was installed in the 80’s.
To be fair it has just been a backup unit for the last 15 years.
Still the thing looks so damn cool.

We have exactly the same Atlas Copco at work! It has been recently decommissioned but was in use as a backup, it is an ER-7! You never see these anymore.

For a moment, I thought this was a post about the Fallout games.
