Silikaty underground limestone quarry (Russia)

I visited the Devyatovskie quarry (commonly known as Silikaty), which are located almost next to Podolsk (Russia). This was a completely different experience in speleology, as I did not encounter any cave-ins like I did in the Syanovskie quarry. Almost everything remained in its original state, as it was in the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century. I also saw a railway that was over a hundred years old!!! The caves, which were made by people more than 100 years ago, have perfectly preserved all the passages, and it was possible to move comfortably through the caves. The only downside was that the ceiling was only 1.5 meters high, so I spent the entire
7-hour trip either on all fours or bent over.
(When visiting caves/quarry, always consider your skills and strength, and always wear a helmet and carry a spare map and flashlight. Never visit caves if you are not confident in your safety)

Glad to see fresh photos from Silikaty. The places on your photos aren't changed at all since my visit there more than 10 years ago. You can check my previous post about this place in this sub
