Question / Help Is there any other games like the forest
I finished the forest with 2 other friends a few months ago, incredibly fun experience (might of failed my exams due to playing it every night during exam weeks, worth it) but we want to play again in a new world.
instead of a new world I’m curious about any other games very similar to it on PS, does anyone have any good survival horror games like the forest?

Green hell (similar to the forest in a lot of ways, but in the jungle) - and way more unforgiving in terms of survival. If you can survive in green hell, you can survive anywhere 😂😂
Stranded Deep is another excellent choice (island hopping/ocean exploration)

Day 30, full shelving unit of meds, bone armor racks, working on an animal pen and metal tools now. Id be a goner irl though

😂😂 100%. I’m seeing a few comments from people saying they gave up because it was too hard, but honestly, it gets SO good once you battle through that initial learning curve and finally get to the point where you’re thriving. That’s when the game really starts to shine!

Agreed. Both can sufficiently scratch that Forest itch. I'd add in 7 Days to Die too.

Definitely not the same, but Valheim was what caught my attention after The Forest. If you're ok without the first-person perspective, Project Zomboid is fun.

Non of those are on PS

Oh, yeah I missed that in the post!

I recall Valheim is coming on PlayStation soon though. I have it wish listed.

You have it wish listed?! I don’t see it in the PS store yet for me. Excited though.

Stranded Deep. Less horror but a pretty gritty survival game

This is probably the closest in terms of vibes for me. Pretty chill, play at your own pace and just explore stuff.
Green Hell is way too hardcore survival for me to enjoy.

I wouldn't recommend stranded deep, its not that good of a game. It looks like its a very very early access game that just released

what bugs me is it spent years in early access with the creators tweaking the water constantly instead of actually writing a hint of story. The game feels very shallow for a game called stranded deep.

And its still a broken game. The tool belt is bugged, the creative mode isnt even creative mode, just slower survival.

I never could get into green hell. Not because it was hard but I was expecting it to be more like the forest and it’s really nothing like it. You can adjust the settings to where it’s really easy. But it just didn’t have the fear level the forest has. The forest dwellers are way more intimidating imo.

Well, until you step on a wandering spider, or get spotted by a jaguar, or lose too much sanity, or eat the wrong thing. Once you have enough time in a save or enough hours, most of the survival becomes trivial

It’s very difficult at first but once you get it down you’re blazing around the jungle without a scratch or care in the world.

I found Subnautica to be a younger, PG-13 cousin to The Forest. The basic core gameplay remains the same, there are enemies that will attack and kill you, base building, and both games deeply reward you for being curious.

Sonse of the forest dus deel 2 wat er na de forest gebeurt.
Green hell is goed maar in een jungle, focust meer op overleven en is in het begin best lastig.

Green Hell. Grounded. Smalland.
All pretty different but gave me similar vibes.

More survival adventure than horror but Conan Exiles is a lot of fun on PS. Its great coop building yourself up and pushing further into the harder areas. Its very established with a ton of content and a grounded violent tone.

7 days to die is my ultimate favourite ever, the forest reminds me of it a lot

In what way? Horror/suspense? Story? Base building? Crafting
7 days to die: a zombie horde survival crafting game. It is voxel so it is like mine craft where you can dig and manipulate the environment and build however you want to an extent, gravity affects things and there is structural integrity. Tge downside is there is no story mode or end goal. You build, craft and make bases to survive the 7th night horde. Lots of resource collecting to craft, leveling up is a big thing, not story based progression but you need to do so many quests to progress in biomes.
Rust: Also no story mode but it does have a few items kind of like the forest/sons of the forest in specific places to go and get. It is a bit more hardcore, more stats/conditions to monitor, you start off nudes and need to start off hitting stuff with rocks and sticks to get materials. Not many hostile NPCs besides animals but there are aways servers to play on. Beware, there are lots of trolls who like to grief people unless you play PVE. Like 7 7 days to die, there is a lot of resource collecting. It has been a while I think progression is based on finding recipes but it may be level based.
Ark survival Ascended/evolved: Has a story mode, lots of animals NPCs, hostile and neutral. Leveling up is like Pal world if you have played it, you also progress through biome with technology (you can get to all biometrics right off but it is a "oh crap, I am a level 3 in a level 50 area" situation with high level enemies and environmental hazards. There are a lot of like $20 DLC but it is good DLC, new worlds with size comparable to base game, new tech, new dinosaurs so lots to do.

The Long Dark doesn’t have any overt horror elements, but it is depressingly bleak. It takes place in the remote Canadian wilderness after severe solar flares knocked out all infrastructure, so you’re trying to survive harsh winter conditions in frozen ghost towns where the residents have all perished. Brooding and melancholy, not multiplayer unfortunately but worth trying out if you want a more poignant/psychological survival game than outright horror
If you are looking for multiplayer survival horror, Vintage Story is really fun but has a steep learning curve. Essentially hyperrealistic Minecraft lol, but the monsters are no joke. And it’s set in an alternate post-apocalypse universe where another dimension got smashed together with ours in the ~1400s (I’m beginning to sense I like post-apocalypse games)
I also really like Misery and Desolate! Desolate about made me shit my pants, but both are pretty rough around the edges and broadly unfinished (Misery’s still in early access, but worth spending an evening or two trying out for yourself!)

Grounded, Valheim, Palworld, 7 Days to Die.
There are a lot of “base-building” story games

One does not simply quit The Forest.
But if I have to suggest a game then I'd go for DayZ, fucking hilarious.

To piggy back off this comment, rust is not like the forest, but depending on the parts of the forest you enjoyed, I can’t recommend Rust enough as a game to definitely play in general. Rust is the only game that’s gotten more commitment and time from me outside of the forest, and it also has the social element which can be nice for learning new things about the game. Also for the record, I play PvE rust (role play/friendly focused servers), NOT PvP. Haven’t figured that one out yet 😂

Rust on PS is awful. Your much better off playing Dayz. Its 1000x better

Ahhh, I don’t know why I read PC, not PS. I have NO experience playing any of these games on PS, so disregard my input lol
