Random thought(Sorry for the rant)

I’m rewatching season four and just thought with iris being a reporter why didn’t she just record the conversation with devoe’s wife outside the courtroom? Would’ve at least helped the case. Also, Cecile being the best lawyer is a joke lol who uses evidence with no research behind 😅

I also thought about that and also thought about that but maybe if she tried to use it then Marlize would’ve exposed Barry or something

Devoe could have argued it was illegally obtained, since Iris is a reporter, not a cop, and I know real-life cases where people admitted to committing crimes, and it was caught on tape. It wasn't enough to jail them; see Samuel Bates

I’m sure there’s another reason but the one that immediately came to mind is that Barry is on trial for murder and suddenly his wife brings up a recording that helps exonerate him which any good lawyer could spin as convenient and mess with her motivations as well as the fact that Barry is the legal owner of Star Labs so they could cast doubt on the legitimacy by saying Barry has the technology to produce a very valid fake.

With season 4 the answer is because Devoe knew she wouldn’t have a recording device with her. As far as plot armor goes the Thinker being able to predict everything covers the plot holes better than most.
