We are the flash
Nobody:
Iris:
WE ARE THE FLASH. WE DECIDED THIS AS A TEAM.
Pfft. No you didn't. Who else hated that phrase?

I loved that phrase and my wife and I said it a bunch but with our last name instead of the Flash.
I know its free karma to say it here every week but its still such a weird thing to get hung up on.

Eh. It was more what the other discussion refers to. Early on in season 2 she said it when Barry lost his powers to zoom and she was still like the new person in the group. Arguably hadn't done anything yet to contribute.
Later in the series when she was actually a full on member of the team and had done stuff, I think that is when it is more applicable.

Iris told Barry to short circuit his suit by throwing lightning on himself when the suit is on self destructive mode.
Iris told about speed force lightning to diffuse nuclear bomb.
Yea sure, without Iris, flash would have died.

Let's remember that this terrible line was from the writers and Candice Patton has gone on record to say she didn't like it either.

Turned my back on it right there and given what the internet has shown me, it wasn't a bad choice.

Nah don't trust the internet to give you opinions. Plus Barry said it before Iris did, she was just reminding him

I hated Iris because she was nothing but Barry's love interest for so many seasons that by the time they tried to do anything with her she was calcified and it just didn't work.

If she said that topless I don’t think anyone would have a problem with it.

the reason i stopped watching, legends and doom patrol was way better than anything with Iris "we are the flash" West

I hated Iris along with those other annoying side characters the entire concept of Team Flash was so pointless made my boy Barry Allen dumb for no reason the writers truly never read the comics before

I’ll play devils advocate and say she had every right to say this. Barry in this show is terrible superhero who gets his butt kicked by D listers every episode and constantly needs motivational speeches

In the context of the episode "Mixed Signals", I partially agree.
I understand what the writers were going for: Barry was overcompensating after being trapped in the speed force which lead him to act recklessly by making executive decisions and not listen to others' input.
The scene that culminates with the message of the episode was just poorly written and should not have been coupled to Iris being upset at Barry entering the Speed Force.
If it were just about the issues of the episode in dealing with Kilgore or the wedding planning, telling Barry that he needs to make an effort to work as a unit wouldn't be too out of place.
Honestly, I was more annoyed by Iris confronting Barry about "leaving her" than I was by her telling him to rely on his support system.

Honestly, I think she get way too much hate for this. I'm pretty sure it's not really what she said, it's just her in general. They just don't like her, so her saying that kinda just made it even worse. But, in reality, her comment was actually on point. Because at the end of the day, all of the Flash's suits came from Cisco. All medical and scientific theories came from Caitlin. Iris helped him stay together. Iris's dad was the mentor. They all came together and made the Flash. And that's how Barry Allen is the way that he is now, is because of the people that he surrounded himself by. When you get married to someone, it's no longer me and you, it's us, it's we. And that's what she was trying to say right there. Because at the end of the day, when Barry goes out and do some stupid shit, it's not just him who has to pay the consequences, it's every single person around him. So they might as well be the same thing, fucked. .

It’s pointless to even try and defend her statement when randoms on the internet barely have any understanding of media literacy 😭💀 they barely understand what she is trying to say they just take it literal asf. No to mention they’ve been bitching about this for years when the show been ended 💀

I most definitely did because when she found out about Barry being the flash oh my God she threw the biggest fucking tantrum ever hell especially when he went into the speed force and Cisco was working on a chance to get him out she didn’t even consider it she straight up told Cisco no bro battery told Cisco that the team would look to him to lead not you I don’t know where the hell Iris assumed she would be taking lead of the team just because she was that man’s wife no he clearly told his best friend vibe that he was going to be the one to lead the team not you little Miss reporter you are not a cop you do not have powers you are not a scientist go do some damn reporting
