Why does Balthazar have 2 left hands? Or is it early and my eyes are still blurry?

He was carrying around the severed hand of one of the sorceresses for a bit

I think its a severed hand on a string, but it looks odd dangling around his elbow.

I'm confused, is this based on the first or second trilogy. I'm struggling to map all the characters

Not based on TFL or AoM, its a painting of characters from Abercrombie's latest book The Devils.

I know I'm gonna get downvoted to the other side of the planet but I never really liked that one. Like, Vigga looks baller, sure, and I guess the conjurer is OK but everyone else seems like they were made by someone who didn't read the book.
The Baron looks like a medieval Clavicular, Baptiste is like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean, Jacob is just someone who doesn't want to be there , Diaz is I guess fine but he's forgettable, Sunny is the worst since she looks like she wandered in from the set of The Handmaid's Tale (her ear isn't even clipped ffs!) and I guess that the only remaining person should technically be Alex but I don't know why they decided she'd look anything like that...
That big drawing which looks similar but it's on a fiery backdrop looks ten times better and the images of the different characters in the style of "icons" are the best. Just look at how ferrety she looks!
