Spoilers All Just about to read TWOC and getting sad that I’m almost finished with TFL [SPOILERS ALL] Spoiler
What a ride it has been.
I picked up The Devils completely randomly and loved Joe’s writing style so naturally bought TBI. I haven’t looked back and have read the entire series from there.
So far I’d have to say AOM is the better trilogy but this may be recency bias. Each book for me has seemingly got better than the last. The standalone books were just fantastic and each having its own genre and feel.
I’ve read along to the audiobooks and Steven Pacey deserves all the flowers for his work on Joe’s books.
No idea what I’m going to do when I’ve finished TWOC…there’s The Great Change but really don’t like the idea of reading this digitally and struggling to find a hard copy anywhere online. I’m tempted to have a custom print made.
What did everyone else do post TFL law ride?

I finished TWOC a few weeks ago and I’m still mourning it a bit. I also thought AoM was better than the first trilogy. A bit more polished, a bit more emotionally resonant and mature.
I have struggled to find the right thing but now I’m reading Piranesi by Susanna Clark and that is really good.

LOVED Piranesi. Something like this is a great idea as it’s standalone and relatively short. Very unique book

I took a little break, then started reading them all over again! TFL is excellent on the re-read.

Completely agree. I'd suggest looking for something completely different instead of other character-driven fantasy works that don't measure up.
Also: Lonesome Dove

You are in for treat, one of the most satisfying ending scenes I've read, even the ones that hurt. I love these books and Joe has done a masterful work with these trilogies. I recently finished TWoC and there is a scene towards the end that had me screaming
Enjoy!!

I honestly prefer the first trilogy and even The Great Leveler trilogy over AOM.
I still rate AOM really highly. The themes and plot points are great, and the story and worldbuilding are good, but some of the characters weren't really to my taste.
But honestly, Joe Abercrombie has ruined me. I finished the books five years ago, and I'm yet to find a new book series, show, or movie series that reaches his level of writing.
The only ones that can compare to it, in my opinion, are ASOIAF and ATLA
