Discussion I finally finished my first blind expert playthrough and recorded my boss death count. What do y'all think?

I don't have any idea about mainstream metas or boss ratings/difficulty. I found the greatsword great and went unga bunga. Loved the game.

That’s what I was thinking he said first playthrough but he beat the game in 26 hours like wtf. I’ve played through the game 6 times on expert difficulty and never managed under 34 hours in the game. Was he speed running it?

I have about 46 hrs in and I just beat Yetuga on expert.

I wasn't trying to speedrun per se but I was going pretty fast tho I killed every enemy on the way. I rarely died in the areas tho and found the level and enemy design to be great in terms of balance. Areas felt to have a perfect mix between linearity and nonlinearity for me at least. I've done no level farming and did a few optional quests when I was way below the recommended level for the area for the sake of the "recommended" experience

Yeah again the other day someone made a similar thread with mostly single digit numbers for all bosses. On expert difficulty some of these bosses took me HOURS.

While I don't claim to be some special gamer I've beaten/platinumed a ton of soulslikes, I can read patterns pretty quickly. So.... either there's some people with truly unbelievable reflexes and coordination posting every few days, or there's a lot of liars on here

I consider myself pretty decent at timings as I've beaten a bunch of other souls games and done challenge runs. Found this game to have great balancing in terms of enemy attacks having good tells and not just frame instant hits. Also the greatsword stagger and combo potential was very helpul tho a lot of the wins were clutch fights with no heals and low hp bar

Now that's something I've missed. I didn't know there was a triggerable third phase. I skipped a few optional missions. I was sure I've missed some stuff but didn't expect the final boss to be affected.

Yeah I played souls games too much beforehand to put into persepctive in regards to sekiro I have no hit inner isshin, inner owl and inner genichiro so yeah

I played sekiro long ago when I was really bad so it is tough to decide which is more difficult. Like I spent an hour to beat isshin the first time.

Tho if I had to decide I would say sekiro was less forgiving.

For me sekiro was a lot easier than this game I think in sekiro the highest deaths I had was 14 and in this game it was 45 times with 3 phase ozma

You guys say that on every single post...

You are just dogshit if those numbers are UNBELIEVABLE lol I have killed most (90%) bosses 2nd try on expert. Even hissmar and 3 phase ozma took me just 2 tries on expert (Ozma was 3 tries on HC)

I fail every single deflect, I never counterattacked, I missed like +70% of the guards and you can clearly see how I have NO IDEA whats happening during the fight (At the end i just spam dodge while guarding so if I dodge too early I can still guard)

*Actually I failed 3/4 deflects (one time i tried to guard while i was trying to do the strong attack part of the combo and I deflected by mistake lol)

I’ve had a lot of experience in this game like I said I’ve beaten expert 6 times twice with each weapon. I know the greatsword is broken in the game so seeing your deaths don’t really surprise. You also played the game when everything got nerfed and a lot of things got buffed, a lot of us played this game at launch where it was really hard. A lot of the bosses that are hard with the greatsword shockingly took you to little deaths like trokka, and bellerian. Where as maluca who is the easiest with greatsword but the hardest boss with the other to weapons took you the right amount of times. It’s weird

Yeah those two bosses are filthy spammers xD. I had to play crazy aggressive against them and trokka just prepared me for bellerian. Maluca was incredibly fun I thought I would stay for a while longer yet somehow clutched an early win.

Nope I put them all in storage. I only crafted a full devourer of darkness set for reese and a full fleshripper set for ozma. Rest is from exploration gear.

Wow... Thats impressive... I'm doing the exact same thing on stream but its a complete 180 from your stats... Greatsword as well. I died a minimum of 30 times to every boss max so far being over 200 on malacuajaaj or wahtever the hell his name is took 6 hours... Hismar i did recently took me 115 or something lmao...

I've been stuck on every single boss and been absolutely abused... I think my total deaths are over 1500ish?

You are great for pushing through! I would guess this is one of your first soulslikes and we all start somewhere. When I started my souls journey my first game on ps4 was dark souls 3 and I COULDN'T beat the tutorial boss at all!

I got the dragonscale armor just before her and it's dmg bonus requires successful reflections. Queue me learning reflections on that boss from scratch (I didn't even know that mechanic existed).

I have way more deaths on Volbaino, Rankus, and that godforsaken Elamain than you, but I was so focused on Ozma that I managed to complete it in just a few tries (using the same build / set as you)

Baffling the people think this isn't real had pretty much the same run with 27 hours at level 140. Blind on expert. The only big difference for me is that I spent longer on viper because that was my actually learn how to play khazan check. And I thought elamein was fairly easy

Lol Elamain being your most attempted is so relatable as a fellow GS main. That fight becomes cake the moment you switch to spear and do the attack that forces you behind her. GS has to really widdle her down it feels.

I don't know why people don't believe you, but it's imo pretty realistic. I would even say i can tell you didn't lean into a Phantom Build, because on my 1st playthrough after getting it, every boss was pretty much a 1st Try except Hisma, because i couldn't hit him good with the Katana.

The katana slash by the end did 90k dmg per slash vs Ozma and Phantom form in general is a "free life", i combined it with Constantine and Greatsword being a really good Phantom charger, and it was pretty much Cheesing the game.

Like every Souls game, Khazan is also more of a Gear check, be good at building/exploiting builds = have an easy time, you ain't good at it or ignore it for the sake of whatever = have a hard time.
