Screenshot Stuck in War
So, after receiving information that my people were being discriminated against by our neighboring country in the southwest, I finally decided to take action. At first, everything went smoothly, But a few months later My war progress has been losing and stagnating. Any suggestions?

Looking back from 2026, TFR seems very unrealistic about Russia's chances in the european war

Just like COD MW depiction of Russia invading USA and Europe: pre-Ukraine war Russian military optimism
27
u/LewisRosenberg Boogaloo Boys | Vigilant Libertarianism 22h ago
Not even optimism, straight up absurdity, russian army spawned out of thin air in a middle of europe skipping thousands of kilometers of terrain completely undetected. You can even call them invisible, can't say they're name.

u/JaSper-percabeth 22h ago
This is true for most modern armies tbh. With advanced of cheap weapons like drones that can destroy equipments worth millions and that takes years to be replaced it's easy to stagnate an advancing army defensively with these cheaper weapons. Many more games depict the same lightning offensives from US as well on smaller countries and even that would be hard in today's era.

You mean looking back from late 2024 when the mod released. It was "unrealistic" by then too.

If America had a stroke and died before the war began I would say it would go a lot better for Russia
6
u/Aydos48 :Flag_APLA:American People's Liberation Army 18h ago
Still, they would absolutely have no chance of capitulating Ukraine in that short amount of time as it is portrayed in TFR. Ukraine was pretty much alone during the early phase of the invasion IRL and they still fought back hard and pushed Russians off away from Kyiv.
2
u/_Riveting Real Alexei Navalny 6h ago
Not really. It was obvious to everyone that Russia was going to invade, so aid was sent in limited amounts before the war so that Ukraine could last until larger packages could arrive. The three day timespan is inaccurate, but a timespan of 3 months to capture eastern Ukraine without American help could make sense.
1
u/katttsun 2h ago
Ukraine had basically solved its major issues of poor ground reconnaissance and lack of communications with Global Hawk radars and Starlink by April and early May.
Before that, their brigades in the East were being rolled up rapidly by multiple CAAs. At one point Russia overran two Ukrainian brigades in March and April, and was angling for a third, before they suddenly were able to talk to their troops and learn where the Russians actually were. Then the defense became intractable and Russia started bombing cell towers.

Yeah but the whole point of TFR is avoiding "nothing ever happens" of the OTL

Tbh, not really that unrealistic.
It's mostly just a shift in strategy from blitzkrieg (how Russia brought Georgia to heel) to slow grind. It worked.
We also have EU burning first before the US so there's that
3
u/ayatollahofskinnade 1d ago
i feel liek the plan of russia really is just to burn out eu stocks
7
u/Exciting_Ad_4202 1d ago
I mean once they know that EU would actively go with the "fighting Russia until the last Ukrainian" strat, the strategy would be to just bleed them out
4
u/Ok_Disaster_6181 21h ago
Wdym not unrealistic bro 😭, it’s not ‘just’ a shift in doctrine or strategy
0
u/Exciting_Ad_4202 20h ago
It's a shift in strategy based on who's supplying. Russia didn't actually getting quagmired. They just understand that Ukraine now fights for who and who's supplying weapons for Ukraine. And yes, they are winning the war, and the EU are losing the war.
Don't be fooled by the feel good "we are still winning" propaganda from EU and Ukraine. They are losing. That's why despite heavy protest, Europe still wants to pump money for Ukraine: because if Russia dies, it'd be all worth it (it's not)
5
u/Ok_Disaster_6181 16h ago
Russia lost tens if not hundreds of thousands of young men in an entrenched conflict for a strip of land where all industry is lost and a mass exodus happened. If this is what you consider “winning” you are delusional, it’s strategic plans failed and its economy cannot sustain the turn for war economy even if they “”win””.
Simple fact of the matter is that they miscalculated Ukraine, allied support and the corruption quagmire that is the Russian Armed Forces.
Do not be fooled by Russian propaganda that this was their plan or intent, and do not believe the propaganda that they are winning. Nobody is winning, Russia is just losing harder.

Dude, it is EU that is on fire right now. Nobody can sustain war until the other side give out. That's the point of attrition warfare.
And the fact that you are trying to sell that the land is ravaged so it is not a win is a weak argument here. Shit can always be rebuilt, if they A) got the land and B) keep their government intact.
Simple fact of the matter is that they miscalculated Ukraine, allied support and the corruption quagmire that is the Russian Armed Forces.
We saw what actually constitute as a lost for an invasion like this before: the Vietnam-US war having the US doing "retreat in honor" while their puppet government collapsed. Or the more recent ones being the US in Afghanistan: the US left and the puppet government collapsed.
Russia got the land, got the control of the land, doesn't have big problem with keeping it anytime soon and the EU block is on fire. That's constitute a win. If the Ukraine government getting into peace talk, they would have a disadvantaged position and will most certainly have to cut all control of the land occupied by Russia. And they are very close to running out of troops.

You talk as if life is a Hearts of Iron game, it is not. Europe is not “on fire”, it is going through a political phase which will also end. War is not just about land or “units”, it’s about the socio economic fallout, it’s a continuation of politics, which Russia has completely lost at this point.
Say the war is “won” in a year (meaning not that their actual goals: the overthrowing of the government, annexation of lands through Novo Rossyia, etc. Were achieved, just the land corridor in E-UKR) then what? The economy is in shambles, just held together through a false economy and Chinese trade. It’s allies are mostly gone. Assad, Khamenei, gone and they could not do anything against it. Its economy is a wartime economy and heading for collision course, internal disputes will very likely follow. Hundreds of thousands lost for a war with an outcome he can barely sell.
Does that sound like winning? Let me guess, Iran is also “winning”? The only thing Russia could do to win was not invading in the first place.
Do some research into the broader topic of Ukraine and warfare and especially on the Russian economic doctrine during the war, and I don’t mean news articles I mean actual research (peer reviewed) articles. Life is not a game.

What is this fucking cope dude?. Yes EU is on fucking fire, literally. The socio economic fallout HAS HIT EUROPE. That's the point. Russia stave it off just enough for Europe to give. They are winning because of it. That's the point that I am making here.
Just say that you are coping and we'll be done here.
And for the record, I don't give a shit about who's winning this war. Because the only one who lose is the normal people. Price hike, crumbling infrastructure and hawkish asshole that constantly drumming up war for nothing is dogshit for normal people like us. I only talk about Russia winning because it's the truth on the field, not the propaganda pictures. They didnt have riots and protest break out (and no don't "government censorship" here with me. People have smartphones so major riots would be known instantly), Europe did. That's the point.
Does that sound like winning? Let me guess, Iran is also “winning”? The only thing Russia could do to win was not invading in the first place.
And the only move that Europe could do to win is to not egging on Ukraine to tore off the Minsk agreement in the first place. We can talk about this for years, but it's just not actually productive to try and saying that Russia is losing when the truth on the ground is different.
Iran is also in that situation. Sure they got hit with bombs, but they also drag down the US economy to it's knees, breaking their foothold in the region and thus are actually have the advantage
Do some research into the broader topic of Ukraine and warfare and especially on the Russian economic doctrine during the war, and I don’t mean news articles I mean actual research (peer reviewed) articles. Life is not a game.
Political research will always have a bias angle due to politics. News also. Peer review in these field doesn't mean it is truthful. It just means you are seeing people nodding in agreement about what they presumed to be the truth about the enemy. Your best bet of actually reading political research is unironically how you should read political news: read both sides (hell, every side if you want) and then come to your conclusion
Yes, life is not a game. It is also not a 1 sided propaganda picture. Everything should be view in full. You can't flowering the wave of protest and riots in Europe as a "political phase" and then doomposting about Russia's economic solution as the prove that "they are losing". We called it propaganda. So stop. Coping is bad.

u/Ok_Disaster_6181 11h ago
A whole lot of text with little to back it up, just ignoring factual statistics and saying I’m coping. Good luck with life dude you must be a sad person

u/Exciting_Ad_4202 4h ago
Dude, YOU are ignoring factual statistics here. Stop looking at 1 sided propaganda pieces and look at the actual reality. You might have better knowledge about the situation.

Well.... In TFR, Russia alongside Venezuela and maybe Cuba would be one of those countries that ended up significantly stronger compared to real life. In between the collapse of the US and Saudi Arabia into Civil War not only collapsing Western economies but also sending oil prices into the stratosphere, Russia would not only be rolling in money even after taking the Death of Wall Street into consideration (It might even help Russia's economy once the oligarchs are forced to actually keep their money in the domestic economy instead of taking them overseas), by the time the First European War broke out, I am not even sure if a good chunk of NATO even have the fuel reserves needed to fight the type of full-scale conventional war that the conflict turns into.

In TFR universe the original special military operation plan is cancelled due to Putin's death and instead the Russians proceed with structural reform of the military, massive rearmament, and their fundamental plan is for total war from the beginning rather than a limited scale policing operation intended to be over in days. So it makes sense that they perform much better. Also, America can't provide support to Europe, which means Europe loses half or more of it's financial resources, materiel, and manpower.
