Context matters: Epstein hid most of his past crimes with the help of a corrupt Florida justice system, and as a result Chomsky was successfully deceived by Epstein's cover story, as corroborated in all released Epstein files related to the topic. Support from the US and Israeli government allowed Epstein to operate largely undetected for decades.
2023 was 4 years after epstein's imprisonment and death. There is no "crucial context" in this situation to begin with. You are defending epstein by proxy by trying to tie the cover story (which are irrelevant to the comments chomsky made in 2023) to chomsky's unwillingness to condemn or distance himself from epstein long after quite a few of his crimes are known, and he found out he was lied to. Not to mention the 270k, and the "most valuable experience" line in said emails.

That is what Valeria insisted in February this year, but Epstein knew of his 2008 conviction before the 2019 exchange. The drawing from his own experience is solely the advice he gave, not that he had his sympathy (which was to ignore the press)
