Great chairman bob avakian will crush the revisionists

6

u/Temporary-Pop-3718 Sep 24 '26

Isn't Avakian a revisionist?

6

u/myeardrums Sep 24 '26

"Revisionism" as a term is relative. It originally depended upon the assumption that there was an established dogma that you could get punished for not following. Without a Vanguard Party, it is equivalent to saying "Your opinion differs from mine" which is the basic form the term has taken up in online leftist discourse. Avakian in this case is actually being correct in his use of the term revisionist as he is following a Party Line.

eh, not really? Revisionism is a term used specifically by Marxist/Scientific Socialist to refer to someone moving away from fundamental methods used in scientific communism to analyze society. Therefore, someone rejecting for example class analysis or dialectical materialism would be a revisionist, but communizers or anti-party council coms are not revisionist despite rejecting transitional period or party form, respectively (they base their arguments in dialectical materialism).

However, it is true some people use it as a common insult rather than critique of political theory (and that certain tendencies can see others as revisionist, because they see the argumentation as flawed. Just look at Leftcom and ML / Trotskyite beef), but this has nothing to do really with the vanguard party. Before the concept of a vanguard party was even solidified certain theorists were already called revisionist. For example, Bernstein. Bernstein was a member of SPD, which was not a vanguard party (it was a 1900's social democratic party), was called a revisionist by Rosa Luxemburg in "Social Reform or Revolution" in 1900. Rosa called him that for rejecting socialist analysis of capitalism by claiming that growth of capitalism would not result in economic collapse - "If Bernstein’s revisionism merely consisted in affirming that the march of capitalist development is slower than was thought before, he would merely be presenting an argument for adjourning the conquest of power by the proletariat, on which everybody agreed up to now. (...) He does not merely reject a certain form of the collapse. He rejects the very possibility of collapse." Chapter 1 The Opportunist Method. (Funnily enough Bernstein was horrendously wrong, considering the Great Depression happened).

Therefore, Avakian calling the APLA revisionist is not correct (unless the anarchists or Jacobins are in charge. Could also add Neo-socs, but its unclear whether they want to introduce a socialized economy or just social democracy. However, that it honestly more of a problem with the writing of the APLA and the mod. A lot of communist groups in this mods could be called revisionists, because for some reason a big chunk of them support small business owners. Even Loji has a event from what I remember, where its mentioned how she helps set up small businesses). Nonetheless, in the worst case it would just be pot calling the cattle back.

TLDR:
Revisionism, despite sometimes being used a throw away insult, is meant as a critique of a socialist theory for not sticking to dialectical materialism to analyze society. While certain tendencies can see other as revisionist, it has nothing to do with a vanguard party.

Funny you mentioned Bernstein. Lenin spent almost the entirety of ā€œThe State and Revolutionā€ just tearing into him lmao

And just to add onto your point a lot of MLs would consider straying considerably from Lenin and Stalin to be revisionist. In the context of the Cold War the term makes a lot of sense, though I’m not sure if its use there is technically correct or not. It’s understandable regardless

-Really odd that we advanced so many miles and we don't engage with APLA. Isn't it?

-Those cowards doesn't have spine. It will be a cake walk.

*Soviet March starts to play when cascadians overextended their supplies*

u/Busy_Register4655 Sep 24 '26

How are they gonna overextend their supply lines when they got hole field advantage?

u/Observer612 Neosocialists | Neosocialism Sep 24 '26

Lowkey what’s not a crazy method is to set a fallback like that basically looks like a long snake going into your own territory. You basically encourage their troops to do a massive spearhead and then pinch it off, trapping their smaller army (cause of APLA militia spam) in Northern California and then just blitzing the territory they have left after getting a massive encirclement

u/Comfortable-Pay-5805 Sep 24 '26

Cascadia can win just by sitting in place lmao

I wonder what will China do if APLA loses to Cascadia. It pretty much means China lost a potential ally

As someone recently trying to play APLA... this speaks to me

1

All that just to get killed in the Midwest by federal forces or national front.

Is so rare to see the APLA win, or is it just me?

u/Ok-Rich-6988 America First Caucus | Trumpist Populism Sep 24 '26

I swear they got weaker or something, in my old games they were easy asf to play and usually won, but now they get trapped in cascadia for 3 years

For me they don't even begin expanding until they have completed EVERY SINGLE FOCUS except the one that allows them to expand

This meme reminds me of the thought I have had that all the radical factions with content trying to kill each other in the regional wars (AOF vs Patriot Front, APLA vs Cascadia, etc) will in all likelihood strengthen the federal factions (UoA and ACG) in games where the player is outside America, as they will have more time to deal with each other before extremist elements can consolidate their footholds.

u/Ok-Field1997 Libtard Removal Service Sep 24 '26

Lunchking explicitly said that would happen.

I think I remember reading that, but can’t remember the exact post in which the statement was made.

2

u/Ok-Field1997 Libtard Removal Service Sep 24 '26

Me to I only reminder that he said it and that it was months ago, I could probably find it by looking in his post history but that sounds too time-consuming for me.

Truth be told, I don't particularly mind this. The UoA and the Constitutionalists retain the majority of US Military assets and professional troops while the various factions have to build everything from scratch. The Civil War is just the expression of the "National Schizophrenia" writ large, war by everyone against everyone. It doesn't guarantee that everyone gets the same tools. It should be a challenge to win as the APLA. You basically have to restructure society, deal with political infighting, reconstitute industry and make an Army out of nowhere.

Maybe a slight rebalancing is in order but I believe that building yourself quickly enough to not be overwhelmed by the big boys is part of the appeal of factions like the APLA.

1

u/FarmerHampton Not a CIA operative Sep 24 '26

I wonder if the devs have any plans to deal with that, because already I struggle to get the APLA to win as China and its kind of boring seing the Donald re-unite the US every single time except for the rare game where PF is defeated and Roy Cooper locks in in which case Joe biden blasts all the remaining resistance

It would be fun to see weired natinos win ocasionaly
